Title: Passport to the World - Round 4
Description: Come travel with us!

rootmartin - February 2, 2008 01:27 PM (GMT)
Welcome to Round 4 of the Passport to the World VBB!

The Rules:

(1) I will post a list of books and the order of the box participants on the first of every other month.

(2) Each person may take as many books out of the box as they want; however, you must put in the same number of books. This means that you may be responsible for shipping the number of books that you have put in. You control how many books you are willing to ship by only taking out/putting in that number of books.

(3) Play may continue perpetually. You can choose to skip your turn by not taking any books out of the box and passing the turn on to the next person.

(4) Books that qualify for this bookbox are fiction, biographies, memoirs and travelogues set in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Middle East or based on the experiences of immigrants from those locations. In essence, this vbb is meant to open doors to new cultural experiences. :D

(5) TBRs are allowed but the books should be mailed out within two months of being chosen (i.e. if a book is chosen September 15th, the book should be mailed out by November 15th).

(6) Any books not taken after 3 rounds will be replaced by the person who put the book in. (Asterisks are used to indicate how many rounds a book has been in the bookbox.)

(7) You have 48 hours from the time the person before you posts their move in the thread to make your move. If you haven't made your move in that amount of time, you will be skipped once. If you don't show up within 48 hours when your turn comes up again, you will be moved to the end of the list. If you don't show up at all for a round, you will be removed from the list for the next round. However, if you want to rejoin at any time, you will be free to do so.

(7) New participants are welcome and can join at any time! If we are in the middle of a round, they will be added to the end of the list. If we are between rounds, they will be randomized into the list like everyone else.

(8) The list of participants will be randomized every three rounds.

(9) Once you have chosen your books, please PM your address to the person whose books you have chosen.

(10) Once you've taken your turn, please PM the next person to let them know it's their turn. If you can't PM them for some reason, please say so when you post your move, so someone else can!

He is 6 1/2 years old and his name is Trevor. He has an enlarged heart and heart murmur due to severe malnutrition. We visited in June and he is a real sweetie!! We adopted a boy from China - home May 2006 that is 6 months older than Trevor, so they should have fun together. :D

I actually have plenty of books that fit but I just was looking to avoid increasing my owed TBR pile significantly. But, I won't have a problem at all this round!

And, I'm sorry that I've taken a while updating. It's just been crazy around here and I'm exhausted.

So, if you see any huge issues with my update, just let me know!

Also, I recognize that my two adds could be considered borderline and I'm happy to replace them with tbrs if there are objections to considering Ukraine in Asia, or to including a book written largely by children which includes stories (fiction) but also art & essays.

There, I hope I didn't mess anything up :)

Also, I don't see how Ukraine could be considered an Asian country, but it's obviously up to rootmartin to decide on the criteria (maybe immigrant experiences in general are accepted into the box?).

Thanks to everyone for putting in such interesting titles, I'm very happy with the selection :)

Excellent job, sudokugirl! Thanks for doing the update.

I have to agree with you that I wouldn't put Ukraine in the Asian category. I'll PM hobbit on it. And, I do like the immigrant experiences to be immigrants from the countries who fit the other criteria for the box.
