while I'm here...

I've got an audiobook on cassettes that has at least one cassette that is almost unlistenable (I know, it's not a word, but you know what I mean! I think...) What should I do with it? I am still trying to figure if I should try to fast forward and try to follow the story despite the skipped part, or just not finish. either way, what should i do with the cassettes? :shrug:

Hi there!

Could I possibly be added in more toward the bottom? I still want to play, but a recent power outage fried my Internet card, so I can only get online at the library (and that is a pain in the beeee-hind). I hope to have my new 'puter set up soon, but I don't want to risk holding up the box if I'm not around to see that my turn has come up.

Lizzi, I would trash the tapes. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people pass on cassettes that are hard to listen to. I did have one audiobook like this that wasn't too horrible and I passed it on, but only as a RABCK and I made sure to detail the condition in the journal entry (this book then ended up in a VBB which made me a little upset because I feel that it's rude to take a perfectly-fine audio out of the VBB and replace with a damaged one, just MHO though). :shrug:

By the way, would anyone mind if I did an update and put the books that need to be replaced in a separate grouping for everyone? :flower: I'm worried that otherwise I'll miss one of mine that need to be replaced. :blush:

Before you trash it, do you have another cassette player you can try? (i know, we may be lucky to have one nowadays...)

I said that because in the past when my car played cassettes, there were tapes that couldn't run in my car but worked fine in my home hi fi set. Of course it is possible that the tape is just plain bad, but it may be the tape worked fine with the previous owner and she didn't pass on a bad tape with bad intent.

Also, tapes deteriate when not stored properly, so if someone have the tapes sitting around for a while it could have gone bad too even when it was fine when she last listened to it.

How bout that! ;)
