Title: New international monthly exchange
Description: Are there enough people to start one?
stellarv - February 1, 2008 02:10 PM (GMT)
Just wondering if we could get a new group starting soon, maybe March.
It would also be very nice if a more experienced member offered him/herself to host the exchange. I'm not sure if, as a relatively new member, I'd be able to make a decent job...
Would anyone be interested?

Sounds like I'm doing a good job turning my friends into Bookobsessors. :giggle:
Welcome, bemaia! Hope we can put a group together. :)
Sunlightbub - February 1, 2008 02:47 PM (GMT)
I'm in 2 groups here and 2 on BCUK at the moment anyway, so will have to resist. But if you need any help with anything, let me know :)
msjoanna - February 1, 2008 04:36 PM (GMT)
I'd be interested. I have one US group, but I'd love to have an international one as well.
I'd be happy to help with hosting if it's needed, but I'm sure you'll do fine if you want to just jump in and do it.

I am still fairly new to the book obsessed site. Have mastered the swaps so far which I thoroughly enjoy but not managed to quite work out how the exchanges work properly?
Is there an idiots guide?

I'll definetely need all help in the world, especially when it comes to establishing rules. I've been looking at other exchanges to try and figure out what generally goes on.
Thanks, Sunny!

Maybe we could discuss co-hosting if this group is really formed. I'll need all the help I can use.

Technically, exchanges seem to be very simple. But only once you start playing them, you get to know the possible problems that get in the way...
Let's hope the group is formed and then maybe we'll go on helping one another. :)
giz-angel - February 1, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
I am in two groups already but I'd be interested! But only if you need to make numbers up - if you get enough people who are not greedy like me, then skip me :)
rootmartin - February 1, 2008 07:09 PM (GMT)
I'd be up for joining! I'm in a US one and find it so much fun. :D
bluecat07 - February 1, 2008 07:45 PM (GMT)
Yes, I want to join, please! :bananadance: :D
stellarv - February 1, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
We already have half of the members!!! I'm so excited!!! :bananacheer:
luckaye - February 1, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
I am so very tempted, but then I look at my bank balance and the pile of books I need to send already and decide I cannot join
GateGypsy - February 2, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
Me, me!!!
Ooh, add me!!! :bananacheer:
stellarv - February 2, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
Great! Only five more people to get us started! :bananadance:
peachy93722 - February 2, 2008 01:59 AM (GMT)
stellarv - February 2, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Four more to go... :bananadance:
msjoanna - February 3, 2008 02:55 PM (GMT)
Of course, if we're slightly short of 12, we could just make the group a bit shorter than a full year. But it's a nice round number to have the 12...
giz-angel - February 3, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
need a name for it too :)

Yes, this is my major concern, since creativity is not one of my strong points... :giggle:
I am taking suggestions!

Yes, I guess we could consider it...
Since I will have restrict access to the internet until Thursday, I guess it's nice to wait until then...

Books Books Books Exchange (BBBE)
Crazy Gals Exchange (CGE)
Just another exchange (JOE)
The last one just because the abbreviation sounded funny.

Yes, we are!!! I'm so excited!  :dance2:
And we even have two votes for Just Another Exchange (JOE), which I particularly like...
Guess it's already time for choosing the corresponding months... Would March be a nice first month?
giz-angel - February 4, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
I vote for April cos it gives a bit more time to start book hunting (and reading) but I'll go with March if that's the group decision. But don't forget if anyone else wants to join I am happy to gracefully retreat!
stellarv - February 4, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
I guess April is better also. :)
msjoanna - February 4, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
I'd say April is better than March, particularly with all the international shipping involved.
Woohoo!
ETA:
In terms of months, can I please request NOT to be one of these months: June, August or September.
Any other month is great. I'm just likely to be traveling a bunch in August and September and June is my month in my other exchange and I think my husband will have a heart attack if I got 22 packages in one month!
