Just checking out interest in having a newer copyright date SFF swap this time, we'll go with the majority! this would mean that anything published in 2003 or newer would be acceptable.

Feb's swap includes Science Fiction AND Fantasy.

Actually, it might be fun to have a special swap some time to be play with only older books -- copyright earlier than 1990 or even before 1980. I notice a lot of reprints and reissues of older SF and Fantasy, and maybe this would be an opportunity for someone new to the genre to have a chance to read one or more classics.

I thought about that, but then decided it was okay as is, so ya'll were forced to decide! No fence sitting! ;)

I noticed that. :erm: ok, if it stays a tie, here's what we'll do... we'll have this combo swap be regular, no year restriction, and we'll have the NEXT one be 5 years or newer, which should give peeps plenty of time to come up with a book that fits in. If it stays a tie... If it doesn't, well, then we'll have our answer! :D

I prefer having it both ways honestly since sometimes I get something that is interesting that I haven't heard of /seen before.

ps: when is the Fantasy only Swap...or is there going to be one? I'm mostly a Fantasy chick and rarely venture into true science fiction...

I've made an executive decision here. Let's go ahead and have this Combo SFF swap no restrictions on copyright date, because I'm afraid that it's too short of notice for people (i know I sometimes plan a couple months in advance what I might use for a regularly occuring swap), and then I'll just say right now and will put into the schedule that the NEXT combo SFF swap, in April will be a "no older than 5 years" swap.

Feb - Combo SFF Swap (no copyright restriction)
March - Fantasy only Swap
April - Combo SFF Swap (2003 or newer copyright restriction)
May - Science Fiction only Swap
June - Combo SFF Swap (no copyright restriction)
July - Fantasy only Swap
August - Combo SFF Swap (2003 or newer copyright restriction)

and so on... how does that grab people? We'll keep doing the Combo every other month like we have, alternating with no copyright restriction and 5 years or newer, and then the off months will alternate between Fantasy only and Sci Fi only. Hopefully that won't burn us out... but we can always back off a bit if it seems like it is.
