Title: What should I read next?
Description: too many choices
appaloosatb - January 27, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
I have too many books I want to read and I can't decide what to pick up next! I'm in that "just finished a really good book" slump where I'm worried that anything I pick up won't compare to what I just finished (does this happen to anyone else?).

Well the only one I have already read is Carrie, although I have several on my TBR mountain. I chose a few that I thought sounded the most interesting.
ETA-- I lied. I have also read Anansi Boys by Gaimen, but it was not one of my favorites. It was okay.

I voted for only one, Coyote Blue, a HILARIOUS Christopher Moore book. Let us know which one/s you read !

The only book in this list that I've already read is Songs of the Humpback Whales, so of course I voted for it. But I did research a couple that looked interesting to me. I decided not to vote for Cygnet since it's a reprint of two books from the early 1990s. That's not to say that it wouldn't be good, but it's not like a *new* book from McKillip. Then I looked at Coyote Blue. There's a preview (a lengthy preview) up at Google books. I read through the first chapter and in my opinion it's a winner! This one is going onto my wish list. (Oh yes. I voted for it.)

I voted for Carrie a must read Stephen King. ;) And I also voted for War for the Oaks by Emma Bull. It is a awesome urban fantasy.

I loved The Thief Lord. :D

I've read a lot of the ones on your list, or have them on my own Mt. TBR, but I voted for War for the Oaks because I keep looking at that one and want to read it soon myself. (So you'll have to let me know how it was.) :P

Read it Cherie! :whip: Very good urban fantasy.
I believe I read it was the first book considered an urban fantasy. It was written in 1987.
Oh Appa it's sent in Minnesota.

It is an AWESOME book and it certainly defines the genre of urban fantasy for me. It was one of my choices.
 I had to cut down on choices there were so many I liked.

I voted for:
Carrie by Stephen King--because it was the first King book I read and I like it.
The Goblin Wood by Hilari Bell --because I want to know if it's good.
Coyote Blue by Christomer Moore --because it's a really good Christopher Moore book.

I voted for The Thief Lord, 'cause I really enjoyed that. The only other one on your list I've read is Carrie.

I only voted on The Thief Lord, because that's the only one I've read! It was pretty good.

I haven't read any of these, so can't really give a recommendation I'm afraid!
