I really miss Missy's favorites site; lots of times I'm up packaging books late at night when no one else is on only to realize I'm missing addresses. Then by the time I remember to come here and either post or PM the people, days have passed. So I thought I'd start a google spreadsheet where we could keep a list of addys, and was wondering if anyone else was interested in joining.

Here's a link to the sample one I've created. I made it public so that everyone could see it, but I would keep the real one private so that only people who were invited could see the contents. That way we dont have to worry about random internet people finding our addresses. If you want to be invited send me an email with the email address you want me to send the invite to. I can separate out people who want to just view the document and people who want to be able to add their info, so let me know which you'd prefer.

Hopefully this will be a workable replacement for the Favorites site since it doesn't look like Missy will be working on it anytime soon. :sigh:

ETA: Try this link (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pmIoWizwYukL-zXwz80UXTQ) to access the spreadsheet, but it may only work if you've already been invited. Send me an email via the site if you'd like to be invited.

I sent a PM -- I already have an excel spreadsheet with all the addresses I've been given so far. I'd be glad to prime a Google doc with it or attempt to import it into one.

I've done a favourites thing Giz's favourites

This should take you to my favourites document which is the same as my post in the faves thread but without all the messing about. I've linked it in the spreadsheet too. We could all do this :)

Can someone who does not have a gmail email addy or google account let me know how/if it works for you? I've been telling people that I think you at least need to sign up for a google account to be able to use the doc, but i'm not sure if that's true or not. I've also been offering to make those without a google account a viewer rather than a collaborator if they didn't want to open a google account but I dont know if that's really a viable alternative or not, and I haven't heard back from any of those people. The majority of the people i've invited so far have gmail accounts so I know it will work for them, I'm just wondering about the people who don't.

I'm going to be a party pooper and not join. You can find me on RABCK.com if you need my address. I keep my BC addresses in an address book, as I get them (even if the occasional slips and doesn't make it in there).

I currently keep all my addresses in my Gmail Contact List (address book) and also in Endicia (my postage software) as I use them. So I'd hate to have to update a 3rd place. HOWEVER, I'm more than willing to provide mine for those that want it.

I must have some sort of Google account. I clicked on the link & Firefox had a user ID and password pre-filled for me. I think it might be my Google Checkout info? At any rate, it worked for me w/o gmail.

First, click in the field where you see the URL (http://whateverstuff). To the left, you'll see a tiny icon in blue -- click that icon and the document will open in a new browser window. It's tricky.

Yup, your Google Checkout info is considered a "Google Account" for all intents and purposes. So is a Blogger account for that matter. So anyone with a "blogspot" blog has already got a Google account as well, even if they don't use Gmail. :grin:

Much like AEZ , I keep my addy on RABCK, but as I know some people have probs accessing that site .... I'll email you my details too.

I however likely won't use the site myself. I've had to many probs with sites going down (like Missy's) or with computers crashing and all info being lost .... I keep mine the old-fashioned way .... in a file written with pen and paper. Atleast I know I always have them , night or day that way. :)

I sent mine, but I don't think I have a google account. I can give a try. I use an address book with loads of scratch-outs.

I think I'd like to join, too, but only with my work address. Maybe you can add a note that it's my work address so that people with my home address don't worry that it's out of date.

Which makes me think - it could be great to add a field to say when this address was last confirmed or something. But what system would we use for keeping that up to date? It would be extra work but worth it, I think. And maybe like I said a column for extra notes like "Campus address is also valid, until May 2009" or whatever.

:cry: It is private, only ones that fantasy gives the info to get to it can see it. Not everyone uses rabck.com. I know a few that actually have problems with it. :erm:
