Title: Chapter 12 Exchange group 2008
Description: list and NEW RULES!
nursiegirl42 - January 20, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
PLEASE CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS! THANKS!
Thanks for joining the 2008 Chapter 12 Exchange We had alot of fun last year so lets continue to do so!
There were a few issues this past year so this year there will be some rules set into place and I will be keeping a better eye on people and books being sent!
1. Joining this exchange is making a commitment to the other members that have also signed up for 1 years time. Please remember this!
2. Any member who gets 2 months or more behind and not had their month/chapter yet will be removed from the exchange and replaced forfeiting all books sent so far - if said person has already had their month and received all their books they can not be removed from the exchange and will still be held responsible for sending out ALL books owed but will NOT be allowed to participate in the following years exchange.
3. Please Pm me the name of the book you are planning to send to each Chapter before you send it.. (Thanks for doing this this past year and this year I am starting a new system so it will be easier for me to keep track of everything)
4. If you have any questions feel free to PM me!
5. Have fun!!
* =rules read and confirmed!
*Chapter 1 March… yourotherleft
*Chapter 2 April… Peachy93722
*Chapter 3 May… nursiegirl42
*Chapter 4 June… chamebjd
*Chapter 5 July… FranciJo
*Chapter 6 August… ramson

*Chapter 8 October… lovemylife
*Chapter 9 November… SimplyCee

I have decided to remove AM10000 and ctgmom from this exchange.. I sent them both PM's regarding owed books and have heard nothing in return. So it thinks it best for our exchange.. because of that I have moved people into different spots (some of you stayed the same) if you dont like the spot I moved you to please let me know I can move you back!
I am going to PM Bibliocrates (since she had mentioned she was interested in joining) and then we will have one spot open for someone else..
If I missed anything let me know!
ramson - January 20, 2008 11:58 PM (GMT)
Read it! Thanks for organizng!
wss4 - January 21, 2008 12:03 AM (GMT)
I would be interested in joining. I am going to have to drop my Ballyswapper spot, after this round which ends in 3 months, because of the increase in International postage. I would love to join this one if it is US only. I 'think' by looking at all of the participants that it is. Let me know if you still have an opening.

Oops, think I got here too late. Chambejd emailed me a bit ago about a spot being open, but if you have the last one that is okay.
Sounds like fun!
Justine

ramson - January 21, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
New year, new participants. Don't keep the same old wishlists! Add some new books so everyone has a large selection to choose from to send each other.

:ditto2:
Or, at least, if some of you ladies with smaller wish lists could maybe make a list of your favorite genres or maybe even some books you've read and really enjoyed so I/we could make better educated guesses at what to send if we don't happen to have anything on hand that's on your wish list, that would also be great!
(As for me, my wish list has become a monstrosity so large that it has assumed its own life force and now adds book titles to itself while I sleep. Nonetheless, far be it from me to give advice and not take it, so here's what I like - non-genre literary fiction, historical fiction - love stories are acceptable genre romance not so much, memoirs, non-fiction history and current events, and also good young adult fiction for reading and for Teen VBB fodder is always welcome.) :)

PRICELESS!!!!! I'm not in this exchange - was just wasting some time reading through things - and laughed when I saw this post!!! MY wishlist has been doing the exact same thing!!! :giggle:
nursiegirl42 - January 21, 2008 03:45 AM (GMT)
Good idea YOL.. my likes as far as books go.. I love paranormals, some chick lit, and I'm really getting into cozies! I dont care for most nonfiction unless it has to do with sex, a private part of the body, or something just off the wall, I love cookbooks especially crock pot/slow cooker recipes and cookies, some teen/YA adult books are good as well.. anything with the main character named Holly or anything wrote in journal, text message, or diary form.
OK I think that about does it!
wss4 - January 21, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
Okay I guess I will add my interests, although my wishlist like YOL grows at an amazing rate. lol
Recently I seem to be reading mostly paranormal. But my old favorites are horror and good sci-fi. I especially like time travel and end of the world type stories. I have started a nice collection of cozies so those are always welcome. I love reading teen books, mostly the paranormal or fantasy ones (Elves and such-- not so much hard fantasy).
ramson - January 21, 2008 04:12 AM (GMT)
Here's mine:
I love chicklit. I do not like romance and there a huge difference between chicklit and contemporary romance though many people thinkt they are interchangable. I also love cozies, particularly culinary cozies. I don't read any other type of mystery besides cozies. I do read non-fiction but its mainly focused on chicklit-y type memoirs, the Amish, Civil War & Resconstruction - but tales of an individual or family not battles etc. I also like a book set in the Deep South centered around a bunch of quirky characters. Other than non-fiction I rarely read anything written by a man. Not that I am avoiding male authors, I've just noticed the trend with myself.
Besides romance, what I don't like is sick shit, paranormal in any way shape or form, sci-fi and fantasy, and books set in non-Western cultures.
Bibliocrates - January 21, 2008 10:32 AM (GMT)
Accepting... Read... Confirmed...
Thank you!
SimplyCee - January 21, 2008 03:38 PM (GMT)
I'm in! And my new month is fine with me. Books I like are in my favorites post and on my BC page.
dancing-dog - January 21, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
Read the new rules (and agree)
As for the book genres/general likes:
Like:
Cozy mysteries, especially by British authors
Animal stories (fiction and non-fiction), especially about dogs
Some chicklit (when the heroine has some common sense!)
Contemporary fiction
Memoirs/Biographies
Some historical fiction (mostly if the main character is a woman and also lately am liking pioneer type tales and stories about the Japanese internment in US/Canada during WW2)
Some sci-fi (I'm very picky about it though)
Modern ethnic tales/stories set in other cultures (fiction & non-fiction)
Like a story that's written in the first person!
Not crazy about for the most part (altho occasionally I might read & find one of these that I like - I try to stay open-minded!):
Romance
SS
Paranormal
Fantasy
Westerns
Political (fiction or non-fiction)
chambejd - January 21, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty flexible with what I read but I really like chick-lit (not romance), non-genre general fiction and mysteries (cozies and regular stuff). I also read non-fiction, horror, sss and young adult on ocassion. I typically don't read paranormal, science fiction or fantasy but am willing to try it if you think it is good. :)
nursiegirl42 - January 22, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)

Is anyone else having trouble reading yourotherleft's wishlist at Cliff's site? I know she said it's taken on a life of its own, but now it seems to be blocking itself!
It may just be a Mac issue, but I can see everyone else's!
chambejd - February 1, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
I can see it fine, but first I have to click yes on a popup asking to abort some scripts running on the page.
SimplyCee - February 1, 2008 05:47 PM (GMT)
I have a PC and I have problems with it too. I can't see anything after Feb 2007 I think.
nursiegirl42 - February 1, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
I get a box too that asks me if I want to stop running scripts after I hit YES I can see it just fine..
yourotherleft - February 1, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, I don't ever have any problems seeing it...
Crazy wishlist! It just does its own thing over there, I have little to nothing to do with it.
FranciJo - February 1, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
I just see a big white box where the wishes are supposed to be!
I'll try from the library.
chambejd - February 1, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
I could pm the wishes to you if that would help?
lovemylife - February 1, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
Read the rules etc. My spot is good. I guess I'm one of those with a "small" wishlist, but I thought it was rather long. I'll try to add some more. It's at the bottom of my profile, by the way.
I'll read pretty much anything except Romance and historical novels. I'd say you can send me whatever you want. If I don't like it, I'll pass it on.

That would be great, chambejd. Thanks!
I was just up on campus and tried it from a PC. It didn't work on Firefox, but did from Explorer (after I got the weird scripts message). So, I can get to it now! Thanks!
