Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin
Book DescriptionVayl is the CIA's top assassin. A master of black ops, he has never failed. He's also a 291-year-old vampire. Assigned to protect Vayl, if such a formidable creature can be said to require protection, is Jasmine Parks - 'Jaz' to her friends. But Jaz has got problems - and not just the run-of-the-mill ones you'd expect from someone whose job consists of putting her life on the line for an undead assassin. She hasn't had sex in god knows how long, so Vayl's almost overpowering vampire charisma is making it increasingly difficult for her to keep their relationship ...professional. Her personal life is a long line of missed birthdays and Christmases, and lies and excuses to her family. And then there's that other thing: the blackouts. See, there's times that Jaz can't account for and things that happen in those times that Vayl - not to mention the CIA - may not appreciate. And if they find out, Jasmine knows it won't just be her contract that's terminated ...

Cheesy's RevealSon of a Witch by Gregory Maguire
Ten years after the publication of Wicked, beloved novelist Gregory Maguire returns at last to the land of Oz. There he introduces us to Liir, an adolescent boy last seen hiding in the shadows of the castle after Dorothy did in the Witch. Bruised, comatose, and left for dead in a gully, Liir is shattered in spirit as well as in form. But he is tended to at the Cloister of Saint Glinda by the silent novice called Candle, who wills him back to life with her musical gifts. What dark force left Liir in this condition? Is he really Elphaba's son? He has her broom and her cape—but what of her powers? Can he find his supposed half-sister, Nor, last seen in the forbidding prison, Southstairs? Can he fulfill the last wishes of a dying princess? In an Oz that, since the Wizard's departure, is under new and dangerous management, can Liir keep his head down long enough to grow up?
For the countless fans who have been dazzled and entranced by Maguire's Oz, Son of a Witch is the rich reward they have awaited so long.

Wendy's Reveal:
Fledgling
by Octavia E. ButlerSynopsis
"Octavia E. Butler is one of the finest voices in fictionperiod. . . . A master storyteller, Butler casts an unflinching eye on racism, sexism, poverty, and ignorance and lets the reader see the terror and beauty of human nature."-The Washington Post Book World
"Readers familiar with . . . Parable of the Sower and Bloodchild will recall that [Butler] never asks easy questions or settles for easy answers."-Gerald Jonas in The New York Times
Fledgling, Octavia Butler's first new novel in seven years, is the story of an apparently young, amnesiac girl whose alarmingly unhuman needs and abilities lead her to a startling conclusion: She is in fact a genetically modified, 53-year-old vampire. Forced to discover what she can about her stolen former life, she must at the same time learn who wanted-and still wants-to destroy her and those she cares for and how she can save herself. Fledgling is a captivating novel that tests the limits of "otherness" and questions what it means to be truly human.
Octavia E. Butler is the author of 11 novels, including Kindred, Dawn, and Parable of the Sower. Recipient of a MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant, the Nebula Award, the Hugo Award, and numerous other literary awards, she has been acclaimed for her lean prose, strong protagonists, and social observations that range from the distant past to the far future.

Rowan Gant returns to face a nightmare long thought to be a distant memory. A killer armed with gross misinterpretations of the Holy Bible and a 15th century Witch Hunting Manual known as the Malleus Maleficarum has resurrected the Inquisition and the members of St. Louis' Pagan Community are his prey.
With the unspeakable horrors of "The Burning Times" being played out across the metropolitan area, Rowan is again enlisted by Homicide Detective Benjamin Storm and the Major Case Squad to help solve the crimes-- All the while knowing full well that his religion makes him a potential target.

Appaloosa reveals:
Ironside(sequel to
Tithe)
by Holly Black
Synopsis
In the realm of Faerie, the time has come for Roiben's coronation. Uneasy in the midst of the malevolent Unseelie Court, pixie Kaye is sure of only one thing -- her love for Roiben. But when Kaye, drunk on faerie wine, declares herself to Roiben, he sends her on a seemingly impossible quest. Now Kaye can't see or speak to Roiben unless she can find the one thing she knows doesn't exist: a faerie who can tell a lie.
Miserable and convinced she belongs nowhere, Kaye decides to tell her mother the truth -- that she is a changeling left in place of the human daughter stolen long ago. Her mother's shock and horror sends Kaye back to the world of Faerie to find her human counterpart and return her to Ironside. But once back in the faerie courts, Kaye finds herself a pawn in the games of Silarial, queen of the Seelie Court. Silarial wants Roiben's throne, and she will use Kaye, and any means necessary, to get it. In this game of wits and weapons, can a pixie outplay a queen?
Holly Black spins a seductive tale at once achingly real and chillingly enchanted, set in a dangerous world where pleasure mingles with pain and nothing is exactly as it appears.

Terra's reveal:
Book Description
The NEW YORK TIMES AND USA Today bestselling Darkyn series continues...
Jayr is proud to be the only female ever permitted to serve as seneschal to a Darkyn lord. But in her centuries of service to Master Byrne, she has fallen in love with him. Now, Byrne plans to step down and hand over the Jardin to another Kyn lord-a move that threatens not only Jayr's position, but her very life...
My Review:
This is the first book I've read from this author and I must say that it will not be the last. Fablous, delicious, sexy, and smooth as silk storyline will make you want more.
The author takes an old tale and turns it into spun gold. That is vampire style spun gold. The characters are not only likeable but loveable with one exception and this character you really want to hate. It's not a matter of the storyline making you want to hate him but just the aura of the character.
If you're looking for a book on erotica then look else where. Yes there is some sex here and mighty good stuff too but not that much that it ruins the story.
The ending is the best I have come across in a long time. What twists and turns with unexpected results. Jayr is the most loveable character here and tis her that has the most to loose but will gain greatly if the right choices are made.
GateGypsy - January 20, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)

A storm was coming... Everyone seemed to know it from the animals, to the people, to the very gods themselves.
After three years in prison Shadow has just been placed on parole. It has been a long and painful three years being separated from his wife Laura, who he adores so much. He can't wait to get out, but just before his release he is called into the Warden's office. It's times like these when your heart skips a beat.
When explorer's first came to American they brought their gods with them. The problem is that the new world of America isn't a good place for these old world gods. The people of America have created their own gods who have become extremely powerful. The old gods like Odin, Bast, and Kali are not match for the gods that America has created like the Media and Technology.
The gods of today, much like the gods of old are created by our thoughts and emotions. But they are no longer just figments of our imaginations they have become full blown avatars, gods trapped in human bodies who can walk and talk, lie and steal, kill and be killed.

Blue Moon (Nightcreature #1) by Lori Handeland

Something is happening in the woods. Something no one can explain....Officer Jessie McQuade has seen plenty in her years on the force--but nothing as intriguing as the gorgeous, naked man she encounters while tracking a rogue wolf. Professor Will Cadotte is a Native American activist. He's also the only man capable of distracting Jessie from her work. And for a cop, distraction--no matter how pleasurable--can be deadly. It's against Jessie's better judgment to accept Will's help in her investigation, yet she soon finds herself doing exactly that--and more. Will's dark, penetrating eyes see into a part of Jessie's soul she never knew existed. It's exhilarating...and terrifying. Now, as a town's deepest secrets come to light, no one is safe: not friends, lovers, or strangers.
