Title: Finding my posts

elsi - January 16, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
On BookCrossing, I can go to my profile and there's a count of the number of posts I have made and it's linked. Clicking on the number brings up a summary of the posts -- topic/thread and date. I would find this feature very helpful here in some of the longer topics (BookTalk/mailed, BookTalk/TBRs, BookTalk/reading) to help me find my most recent post in the topic so I can then post an update. As it is, I have to load the last page, use the browser's FIND function, and keep working backward through previous pages until I find my last post.

Any chance a feature like this is in this BB code or the follow-on that I heard is in the wings?

dunno off the top of my head, but I liked that ability as well and it's something I looked for as an add-in when we moved here (but isn't available).

It's definitely available if we go to a private host and run our own version of the software, but that's a huge jump and one we're not ready for yet, so I'll have to see if it's something we can get with the new forum software or what. I'll try to remember to keep y'all updated with info as I get it.

Can't you just use the "My Assistant" and "My Last 10 Posts"?

But what if you want to look someone else's posts up? Or look farther back than 10 posts ago?

But her question was for looking up HER posts, not someone else's. So  back at ya.

I haven't seen this feature -- will look @ it to see if it does what I need. Thanks for the pointer.

Update -- nope. Not quite what I was looking for. This shows me the last 10 posts across all forums and topics. What I want is to find my posts *within* a particular topic.

Yes, my current concern is to find my own posts within a given topic/forum. But I can see a lot of value in being able to see posts by any specific member working from the profile page. That would allow you to do better research when playing in one of the secret/gift exchanges, for example.
