Title: I may be moving to Cincinnati!

Ri - January 10, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)

Well, I thought the moves were over for quite a while, but it looks like I may be moving to Cincinnati soon! DH was offered a big promotion in Cincinnati so we are considering it heavily and trying o figure out some details, etc, but it looks like y'all might have to update my address AGAIN!

Seriously, it is a great opportunity for him and I could set up my practice in Cincy while probably driving back to Columbus once a week to follow up with my clients here for a couple months. Also, Cincinnati could use a few more liberal voters... :giggle:

I'll keep you all updated, of course. Anyone want to come over and take a bunch of books off my hands?

PepperVL - January 10, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
Then you can hang out with me and Rebecca!!! :D

Of course, we could only move to a place with BOers!

Wow that sounds nice Ri.
Okay maybe not the moving part but the rest sounds exiting.
:bananadance:

giz-angel - January 10, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
Good luck with it sweetie!

CheriePie - January 10, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
Oh that sounds nice! I liked Cinci from the little I saw of it driving through 2 times. I'd like to get back there and visit sometime. Pepper is the offer for your couch still open?

meshe - January 10, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
I lived in Cincy right after college (well, I really lived in Northern Kentucky, but it's all about the same.) and loved it. Being a southern country redneck I thought I'd hate it,but i loved, loved, loved it. If only it was warmer. Can't stand that cold weather!

AceofHearts - January 11, 2008 01:00 AM (GMT)
I went with DH to Northern Kentucky (opposite Cinci) and it was very nice

HoserLauren - January 11, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
Good luck!

When are you coming back to Toronto??

You can't pass that up :) Good Luck Ri

Good Luck Ri's Hubby!
Sounds like it won't be a long move. I don't know Ohio geography but at least it's the same state. ;)

Ri lives about an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes from me... so that would be aproximately the move. :D

Wow! Is it really that far from you? Well, she's about an hour to 1 hour 15 minutes from me now and depending on where she moves in Cincy she'll be the same or less.

Which store would he be working at? The Cincy or Mason store! Mason would be awesome since it is so much closer. Heck, I didn't even know there was a Mason store. I better not tell John cuz we are out of chocolate ice cream! :)

He'll be at the Cincinnati store.

Can't you just hear the Green and Black's ice cream calling your name??

Gothamgal - January 14, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Awesome! Cincy is beautiful, and A bookobsessed-friendly place! :-)
Please let us know what's up, Ri. And good luck with the move!

I was soooo close to going to school at Xavier, it wasn't funny... Sometimes I wonder how things would have turned out.

cowgirl-up - January 15, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
I love Cincy! Sounds like a great opportunity and congrats to your hubby!

Ri - January 15, 2008 05:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks, everyone! No final plans yet but we are about 95% sure that we are headed to Cincy in the near future!

I sent DH the link to the Mason location. I think he's planning a roadtrip for ice cream on Saturday!

So here we are over 2 months later...

Our house has had some major cosmetic renos done. I feel like I've been ainting for weeks! We got our house ready to sell only to meet with a realtor who showed us some really ugly numbers... Turns out we are not selling our house, but will be renting it to friends of ours instead! :bananadance:

Now we are looking at finding a place to rent in Cincy. The move is mid-April. I haven't found a place to live yet as I am ow unwilling to live in a crappy outdated apartment! I will pass aong my addy as soon as I get one!

chambejd - April 28, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
Has anyone heard from ri lately? I'm wondering if she has a new address yet...

I think she updated the address in the google doc...

chambejd - April 28, 2008 02:59 PM (GMT)
Thanks, Joanna! RABCK.com still has the old address and I didn't think to check the google spreadsheet before I left home. If you or anyone else could pm the addess to me I would really, really appreciate it! I can't access the google spreadsheet from my work computer. :( Thanks again!

msjoanna - April 28, 2008 03:03 PM (GMT)
Done! :pm:

To be quite honest, I'm not surprised. I work for the home lending arm of Charter One (Citizens Bank in New England/Mid Atlantic) and the home prices in Ohio and Michigan are falling faster than Bush's approval rating... to the point where it's both scary and sad. If you didn't have to sell your current house, you'd be in a great situation to buy (as a new home owner) but selling a house... saying it's rough is an understatement.

I hope you've figured out your new housing and job situation! It can be both exciting and stressful when having to make all those plans.
