Title: A newbie wandering around aimlessly

Being that I'm a BC'er also, there are a many things here that I understand. I know what BB's, VBB's, Relays, Rays and Rings are. There is one thing that I'm not really getting is Swaps. They seem much different than an exchange/trade kind of thing. Could someone explain them to me?

Thanks
Sabrina

First of all Welcome to BookObsessed!!

If you check this link, I think that might help some--

http://home.comcast.net/~mbentz1/swapfaq.html

It gives a general overview of what a swap is and how it works.

This link offers some extra information.

But really when it comes down to it, the best way to learn is to do. Folks here are very good about helping newbies and walking you through a swap. So join one!! There is no better way to become addicted learn how to swap.

I think wss4 pointed out where you need to go. But be warned they can be addicting.

Im sorry... my head isnt feeling right and Im not sure I understand the whole swaping thing.

People post books and people steal them? Uh... like IRL? Like if my book gets stolen by Rugman22 I have to send my book to him? Or is it jsut online?

Im also not sure about the whole player 1, player 2, thing. How do you know who is playing? It really confuses me.

Im a tad slow so I need a kinda in-depth explination, if anyone is willing.

You only send the book at the end of the game. So the "stealing" is all online and then when the last book is revealed, the game is over and you have to send whoever ended up with your reveal that book.

People sign up for the swaps. Sign ups are posted anywhere from a couple of weeks (for special, once a year kind of swaps) to a few hours (for ALSs) before the swaps.

Have you ever play Dirty Santa, White Elephant, or Yankee Swap? If you have you might be able to grasp swapping easier. :)

You reveal your book when asked to and on your turn you steal/take possession of a book from another player or ask for a players book reveal that hasn't revealed their book yet. If you get your book stolen then steal from another player or ask for a players reveal that hasn't revealed their book yet. There's usually a set number of times a book can be stolen. 5 is the usual number. Oh and if you got a book just stolen from you can't steal it right back from that player. At the end of the swap is when the last player left to reveal their book is revealed. Then you mail out your book to the person who ended up with it.

I also like to compare it to Secret Santa swaps that many people do during the holidays.
