Cherie asked me to post an update, since I owe books to a few people. I don't think I'd be able to find the books any time soon, since half of my collection is in boxes in the shed and I really don't have time to dig them out, but I'd be happy to have them sent via Amazon. If I owe you a book and that's acceptable, then please contact me. I'm pretty short on money right now, but I can have it done by the end of February.

As for the update portion... I'm hesitant to say very much about it, but Cherie had a good point... if I don't say anything, then it looks like I've flaked out.

My mother petitioned for emergency custody of my daughter in September and told the judge that she had been raped when she was seven. The judge put her in foster care in order to investigate the accusation. I go back to court on the 19th of February, even though the investigation has been completed. The accusation was proven to be false, and my mother has been found to have done something sexually innapproriate to my daughter...

I've moved and gotten restraining orders against my family, since there were some "I'm going to kill someone!" statements made by them in the beginning. The entire thing has blossomed from something that should have been laughed at to a three-way custody battle with five lawyers. When I meant that I don't have time to dig out any books, I was being literal... I'm almost always in a meeting of some sort, since my daughter is autistic and has other psychiatric, genetic, and nuerological disorders.

I hope that explains what's going on well enough... I'm hesitant to go into too much detail.

Anyway... please let me know if I owe a book to you, and if you would be willing to receive it from Amazon or one of it's merchants.

I honestly don't know what to say... I'm at an odd loss for words these days. I think that I must have been Caligula in a past life, because there's no other way to explain all of the crap that's happened to my family over the past two years. It's impossible to get away from it for even a second because this town is... well, it's not tiny, but everyone knows everyone else. So, even though this case is in juvenile court and isn't a matter of public record, it might as well be, what with everyone knowing all of the parties involved.

Everything should go well at the next hearing. My family accused me of a lot of things (drug abuse, child neglect, promiscuity, etc.), and I've been "cleared" of all of them. The only way they can have Chy is if I'm completely unfit, and being disabled isn't a good enough reason. The hard part is just getting through it all. Chy is always in hysterics because she wants to come home and she doesn't believe that her grandmother would lie, so she says that she must have been raped but can't remember when it happened, and Mitch has been seizing left and right because of the stress. In a couple of months, I get to undergo a mastoidectomy and tympanum graft while CPS, DCS and TRACES eyes me to see if it'll be the downfall of the cleanliness of the house as they know it. I've got lots of fun things going on, and more to look forward to.

I can't wait until this is over. With Mitch seizing so much, I've had to do it all on my own. It's been really hard at times...

What I said about my other sounds worse then it is. When she told CPS that Chy had been raped, and CPS told her that they didn't think she had been, the woman decided to "check Chy's hymen" and then proclaimed to everyone that Chy didn't have one. She can't be prosecuted for it (there was no sexual gratification on her part), and her lawyer is trying to play it down as something any concerned grandparent would do. ::gags::

So... yeah... everything should go well. It's just the getting there that's the hard part. :-\
