I freely admit that this isn't the least bit original, and I am completely sniping this idea from boirina in the wishlists forum at bookcrossing.com. However, rather than put two of the same thing up on the same forum, I figured I'd bring mine over here!

I'll bet you're all really familiar with sweepstakes and how they work. I've never run one of these before, but as I understand it... I take the names and addresses of anyone who wants to give this a go. At a predetermined date (for example, January 10th, which happens to be my birthday) I close entry, and then draw a winner and a lucky distraction. I sent all the participants the winner's name and address, and send the winner the lucky distraction's name and address, so they don't know that they were the winner, and fun is generally had by all... Did I get that right?
I expect that wishlist books or other giftie-type things can be sent to the winner, yes?

Since I'm an "international" bookcrosser, being from Canada, most everything I organise is international friendly. Please sign up only if you're willing to send to someone far away :D

We normally have them at regular intervals and the winner of one will host the next.

Not to say that you should not have another, you can never have too many as far as I am concerned. lol

Awwww.... I'd sorta like to join, but I'm getting too far behind in my reading with all the books I owe for upcoming exchanges, including our own BookObsessed Ring in the New Year Sweeps which just closed the other day. (And Valentines and Birthday Exchanges, which I have to do in the coming month.) I also just placed a good-sized order with BookCloseouts last night to try to help out with some of those owed books.

So I'll have to respectfully decline for the time being since I definitely don't want to start out the new year by adding more stress, and blow off my goal of reducing owed TBRs. :(
