Fangs, Fur and Fey mini-con!

First, Happy New Year, everyone! Hope 2008 brings great things to all of us.

And now, for news. Some of you may have already seen this posted on fangs_fur_fey , but if you haven't, Fangs Fur and Fey has been invited to coordinate a "con within a con" at Conestoga 2008. Preliminary details are as follows:

Conestoga is a Fantasy/SciFi/Paranormal convention that runs from July 25-27 in Tulsa, OK. This year's Guest of Honor will be bestselling author Diana Gabaldon. Below, please find a list of FFF members who have already planned to participate in the FFF mini-con (Note: list subject to updating as more members check their schedules):

Melissa Marr
Jeaniene Frost
Mark DelFranco
Tiffany Trent
Rachel Vincent
Cheyenne McCray
Jen Barnes
Patrice Michelle
PC Cast
Kristin Cast
Steve Wedel
Mark Henry
Carrie Jones
Justine Musk
***and Rachel Vater (as special agent guest on panels/workshops)

So, what does this mean? In addition to the wonderful events Conestoga already has planned, Fangs Fur and Fey will have their own schedule of panels and workshops. The different panel topics we will showcase are still being decided, but one that's definite will be a "state of the market" panel featuring literary agent Rachel Vater, as well as several attending authors.

*Please note that Rachel will not be doing an open-pitch session at Conestoga.

There will, of course, be an number of author signings, and we will be hosting a meet and drink greet event. Neither conversation nor drinking is required, but both are encouraged ;). We will post more details as they become available, and of course, we'd love to see as many of you there as possible. It should be a lot of fun!

I would love to go to it also. I don't see it happening for me though. :(

I really want to visit the States sometime in the next year or so...this would have been a perfect excuse ;) However it is a few days before my 30th Bday and I already have a long weekend of getting drunk in Prague organised ;)

It is a shame! Such a nice line up of authors!!!

I've only heard of three of those authors, and only read something by one of them. Would be a waste of time for me. And I really wouldn't want to go to Oklahoma for anything, although I have roots there.

I do watch the Fangs, Fur, & Fey LJ community, and yeah I recognize a number of authors from that list, though some of them I haven't read but still have a book or two of theirs, many of them debuts, on Mt. TBR.

But I have to agree with Kel and say ummm... Oklahoma??!! :wtf: I'm sorry to anyone who might live there, but I've really got no desire to visit Oklahoma per se. My only thought being that if it's along my route as we're driving cross-country from Mass. to California, since we plan to take the southerly route, it's halfway between NMZ and Shaunesay, so if I had to combine meeting up with the two of them into a single stop, I could see that happening in Oklahoma. Now if that happens to land around that time in July, then great, let's do it! Though I doubt it'd be anything I could plan this far in advance as I'll definitely be in the throes of moving at the time. Though that could very well place me in that area around that time as well. Who can predict how fast our house will sell though?? :sigh:

I AVOID OK like the plaque cuz if I was there I'd have to visit with DH's family...thanks but uh NO!! Heck, I was in Ft. Worth once and we didn't tell his sister cuz she woulda expected me to visit.

Okay, that's a valid reason to not want to see Oklahoma.

However, lacking a reason (like Nou's) to avoid a place, why wouldn't I want to go there if something I want to attend is being held there? :erm:

CheriePie - March 31, 2008 10:30 PM (GMT)
:bump:

I'm just gonna give this a bump since I may actually be traveling cross country around this time after all. And now that I know that David Cook *swoon* (of American Idol season 7) lives and plays (played?) in the Tulsa area, I'm more likely to want to go there.

But in any case, I was hoping to meet up with Leilani somewhere thereabouts anyway as I'm passing through...
