The Rules:

(1) I will post a list of books and the order of the box participants on the first of every 2nd month (Sept, Nov, Jan, Mar, May, July).

(2) Each person may take as many books out of the box as they want; however, you must put in the at least the same number of books.

(3) You can choose to skip your turn by not taking any books out of the box and passing the turn on to the next person.

(4) Only books from 1001 books list may be placed in this bookbox. (Asterisks are used to indicate how many rounds a book has been in the bookbox.) To Be Reads are okay but should be marked as such!

(5) You have 48 hours from the time the person before you posts their move in the thread to make your move. If you haven't made your move in that amount of time, you may be moved to the end of the list.

(6) New participants are welcome and can join at any time! If we are in the middle of a round, they will be added to the end of the list.

(7) Once you've taken your turn, please PM the next person to let them know it's their turn. If you can't PM them for some reason, please say so when you post your move, so someone else can!

Really? I assumed they had to be! In that case, maybe there is no need for stars at all (unless you want to track how long a book has been there?)

I like to keep track of it, and we may decide later that books that have been in so many rounds ought to be replaced.
I am undecided as there are so many books that I need to read to complete the list but there are only so many I can afford to send, so that limits how many I can choose at a time. I assume there are others like me in this VBB who are trying to complete the list?

That's true, plus I know I (and probably others) only have a limited number of the books on the list to replace with as well.

It wasn't a criticism BTW, I just hadn't realised - I think for this type of box there is probably no need to replace unless people have another use for the book (or its been in a year or something!!)

It's a good point, since due to the nature of this particular VBB there are only a certain number of specific books that can be included. I think it's perfectly okay to not have a x-number-of rounds-then-replace rule. I myself would probably replace any books I had put in that just weren't moving after a certain # of months, so having the *'s there would help me keep track of that for my own reference.

I'm so glad! That way I can possibly get something on a later round since it won't automatically disappear. I won't mind having my own books hanging on the list until they get picked since I know that everybody wants to read them eventually. :D

Ok, I just got home two hours ago. Will take a look at the list and play as soon as I can. Happy New Year, everyone :)

I like seeing the stars to keep track of how long a book has been on the list (that's why I added them when it was my turn). Like many of y'all, I too am trying to read my way through the list and I think the stars are a good indicator of which books have already been read by most of us, since they aren't being chosen. Does that make sense? It is up to luckaye whether or not any books should be removed after a certain time. I have many titles from the list, but am extremely backed up on owed TBR's and don't want to overdue it, you know?

I followed this VBB for a long time before I finally gave in and signed up. I couldn't resist. Many of the books that I've read on the list were great!

We are supposed to be on our sailboat sailing to Trinidad now. But I can't leave yet because I have some minor medical problem that need to be cleared up first. We will leave as soon as I am better.
