Title: Bug because of the clocks?

Marlene - December 16, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
Lately I seem to encounter problems only on Bookobsessed.
When a page is loading and I try to scroll to quick before its loaded or try do post, my page will stop reacting and I get an error message.

I know it is the clocks because eveyrtime I look I see that it is busy loading a clock when it happens.
Am I the only one?

I don't have any problems HOWEVER, if your system is low on memory, slow, or out-of-date, then the Flash software that is run for each clock can start to become an issue. So make sure your Adobe Flash Player is up-to-date.

If you're running XP, how much memory (RAM in MB or megabytes) do you have in your computer?

And you can always turn off signatures. I do because I am on dial up internet connection. :erm:

yep I often have all the time Transferring data from www.clocklink.com... on the bottom of the screen but I ignore it and work without problem. I do see all clocks as well

Okay, yeah a fast computer with 1GB of memory shouldn't be giving you any problems. Now if you had an older, slower system, with somewhere between 256-512 MB of memory, and are using a multi-tabbed browser with multiple tabs open, then yeah, in cases like that, I can see where all the multiple instances of the little flash program on a single page can begin to overwhelm the browser. It's the startup part, all those clock graphics starting up at the same time on a single page, that can do it sometimes in those instances. (And if anyone else is seeing instances of this, I'd suggest either turning off signatures or just trying to lower the number of posts per page, trying maybe 10 to see if that helps.)

Hopefully though, the update to the latest version of Flash Player will help too. If the clock server is down, it could cause the clocks to stop responding, but I've never had it lock up the browser page completely either.

Well cherie (love the new letters by the way on the top of the page!!!)
I think it might have done the job but I will keep you posted.
So far no crashes.
