Not yet, but the mail has not come today yet!!!!

Well, nothing today, but it's OK. It is early and with New Years there is one less mail day!

I hope they arrive in time. It would be a bad way to start the year off otherwise.

boogal - January 5, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
I received a package yesterday from a Susan in Quincy, MA.

Thanks!

I'll be good! Thanks b-day partner :)

I hope there wasn't a package sent sooner than that; about a week ago in my mail was one of those "your mailman was too lazy to deliver a package so you should pick it up at the post office" cards, except it hadn't been filled out at all. I assumed it was a mistake and didn't do anything about it...maybe on Monday I should swing by the PO just to be sure.

It could be. One of your partners sent something out a week or two ago

Thanks Karen...nothing yet....just enjoying a quiet day on the couch before going back to the nut house (aka Kindergarten)!

In other news, DH's little sister just crashed/rolled her Dad's explorer...she's okay (they think - never know about whiplash and stuff like that, right?) but the truck is totalled...no charges or anything and thankfully no one else involved or in the vehicle!!!

HoserLauren - January 6, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
Glad she is ok. Somehow, not all that surprised that happened from the stories you tell me.

Breeze - January 6, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
Oh oh oh oh Karen thank you so much!!! The e-mail just arrived!!!!

Morsie (what a sweetheart) sent me a Chapter's gift certificate via e-mail!!!! Was that complicated to do from the States???

Thank you!

No kidding, eh? She didn't even have a good reason like bad weather or swerving to avoid hitting a mother duck and 5 little ducklings....

Actually it wasn't complicated at all (I think it may have been if I wanted to send a physical gift card to you), it just seems like they held my order for a while before processing it and sending the message to you.

I'm just glad that it came through!

I hope you are having a fantastic b-day!

I checked at the PO and they couldn't find a package, so the random card in my mailbox was an error on the part of the mailman. I was going to feel so bad if a package got returned!

Lady Janet's B-Day partner - January 7, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
Your parcel has been mailed today. Do not open because it has a self-destruct in effect before Jan 25 :D

HoserLauren - January 8, 2008 04:21 AM (GMT)
From the help of Catsalive and Giz, I've added a postage guide to the very first post. This should let you know approximately how far in advance you should be sending out your parcels so they arrive in time!

In the North America section, though I realize that includes Canada as well, it's very different shipping from the US now since we no longer have surface mail options for International. Also mailing domestically, you can consider your mail to be either Media Mail vs. First Class/Priority (First Class Mail automatically becomes Priority once it's over 13 ounces).

So in case you wanna separate the USA out, here's some new numbers for you, at least for the top two:

From USA, TO:
- USA (domestic): 2-4 weeks (Media Mail), 5-7 days (1st Class/Priority)
- Canada: 2-4 weeks (1st Class)
- Europe: 2-5 weeks (1st Class)
- Australia: 6-8 weeks (1st Class)

Of course, feel free to have others from the US pitch in with their experiences if you decide to separate 'em out. :)

HoserLauren - January 8, 2008 03:19 PM (GMT)
Thanks Cherie, I've added it.

HoserLauren - January 10, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
No packages received yet?? :sigh:

boogal - January 10, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
I received another package from Susan in Quincy, MA (I don't remember who that is...) and a package from Breeze. :boogie:

Huh... is that someone here? Cuz we're planning a Mass meetup and we don't know any Susan from Quincy. Perhaps it's a BookMooch member and someone's mooching stuff to be sent directly to ya?

Lizziwhizz's Other Birthday - January 10, 2008 04:47 AM (GMT)
Just a quick note to say that I mailed a package off to you yesterday. However, I just realized that I didn't note that it was for the birthday exchange.....

So, do not open any book-shaped packages wrapped only in a plain manila envelope (not padded) with hand-written adresses on it until your birthday!!!!!! :P

And, you should be receiving a couple of notices of other parts of your birthday treat in the next couple of weeks. So, if something surprising arrives in the mail.....it might be me!

lizziwhizz - January 13, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
I received a package yesterday, it's postmarked from Canada. It sat out all night! My husband grabbed the mail yesterday and there were NO packages, but when I was leaving the house this afternoon there were two big boxes sitting there. Grrrr...the only thing I can figure is the mailman did his usual walking route, hubby grabbed the mail, then the mailman swung by in his truck on his way out to drop the packages.
Anyway there's hopefully nothing to be damaged (I didn't read the claims label!), and it's been warm lately so I doubt it got far below freezing last night, if at all.
Anyway, thankyou birthday partner! :)
