Description: frenzy!!!
Helly - December 23, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
i wild released 9 books today on my journey to visit my brother, and despite the free book labels on the front people still tried to give them me back!!!
they also looked shifty checking behind them as they picked the books up!! must be a British thing eh?

Nah not a British thing. I think if you try to give things away people think something must be wrong. Oh but if you accidently left it and wanted it then someone would steal.
Welcome back from your brother's place. Sorry about the temporary digs. :)

This is so true!!! Heaven forbid you accidentally leave something lying around, it will be gone in mere seconds!!!
I've had people do the double take when they see the books. You can see them thinking:
What's the catch?
Is this a test?
Are they watching me?
Is this one of those hidden camera, what would you do things?
What happens if I take one?
If I take it, will someone yell at me?
Hehehehe.... it's like its own psychology test. ;)

I once released a book on a bench infront of of the United States Capital Building. As I was leaving a lady stopped me to ask me if I forgot the book. I just wanted to get the hell out of there before one of the secret service guys with guns came after me and accuse me of spreading anthrax via books on benches.

I'll try to be as unseen as possible. I usually wild release when I know that noones watching but I wouldn't pick any suspicous locations. But I read that someone left books in Berlin in the Reichstaggebauede (it's like the Capitol) and at the very top where tourists ususally go to for the view she left them there. One books was caught and journaled but I was also thinking that I wouldn't leave some there if I'm ever at a govermental building.

Congrats, Helly!!!
My second wild release got given back to me... but I wasn't there.... I left it in a changeroom at a pool, and it was a really quiet day.... only one other woman was there, with her daughter. I guess they must have seen the book with me or just thought it was mine or something, even though it had the big "I'm not lost, I'm FREE!" thing on the front.... cause they got out of the pool before my friend and I did, and nobody else went into the changeroom, but when I got out and went in there, it had been moved from the bench that I left it on to my locker (which was left unlocked, because I forgot my lock at home and didn't want to buy a new one)!
I moved it and left it in the lobby instead, and it quickly disappeared, but was never journaled :(

My wild releases NEVER get caught - I've not released any for a few weeks cos I'm disheartened with it - where did you release Helly?

The last wild release I got caught had a really strange journal entry. The guy left me some personal details and his phone number, and asked me to get in touch so we could meet up. He also revealed what drug he's addicted to.
I haven't wild released any books since then...

I've got to go to London this week, so I'll take a handful of books to release along the way. I like the idea of leaving them on trains :D

That's just so strange!
I've only had a few wild catches (not including meet-up catches)-- I think I am up to 4 now, lol. The latest one is pretty recent; a book I released at a cafe in September just checked in around Christmas. The person really didn't say anything... it was just like "I'm sorry it's taken me so long to journal this book, I have been away from a computer." or something along those lines.
