Title: A little help from Mystery lovers?
Description: Maybe?

AlterEgoZoe - December 3, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
I'm hosting a "Muder Mystery" game around the end of December for family, and I'm thinking that there'll be more people playing than characters avalible (8 total, 9 including me the host). The directions said if there is more people than characters provided in the game you can add characters that are dectives from popular books. The game is set in the 1930s, so I was hoping some of you can help me think! (I have more male dectives than females, so if anyone could help!)

Ones I have so far:
1.Miss Marple
2.Hercule Poirot
3.Sherlock Holmes
4.Dr. Watson???

Dick Tracy
Sam Spade
Arsene Lupin
A.J. Raffles

(Though the last two are more of accidental detectives than actual detectives... they're not really the best guys... but they defeat the worse guys. :giggle:)

Also, along the Agatha Christie lines, she also has

Tommy & Tuppence Beresford
Adriane Oliver
Arthur Hastings (who is Poirot's "Watson")
Chief Inspector Japp
Superintendent Battle
Inspector James Leach
Colonel Race
Parker Pyne
Harley Quin

A few female detectives:

*Harriet Vane - Dorothy Sayers detective in "Gaudy Night", "Strong Poison" and "Have His Carcase" and a couple of others (she helps Lord Peter Wimbsey solve the murders)

Nancy Drew (??- first books written in the 30's)

Cordelia Gray (owns her own detective agency) - books by PD James

* Gaudy Night is one of my all time favorite mysteries

On the page I posted, I know that Amelia Peabody would probably work for your game. :D

And, brought to mind by that Wikipedia article... Emma Peel (and John Steed, of course, but if you're looking more for women...)

Of course, they're more secret agent than detective, but it's close. :D
