Hi all, I saw this on the BC Forums, but I know not everyone here goes there anymore, so I thought I'd post it here... I've never even HEARD of most of these, let alone read them... anyone?

The Best Novels You've Never Read

Can't say I've heard of any of those

I've read one, Unless by Carol Shields, and didn't really care for it.

I'm also currently reading one, The Accidental by Ali Smith. I've just started it so I don't have an opinion of it yet.

I haven't heard of any of the others.

I've read a few of these.

Nice Big American Baby was wonderful. Extremely weird and wonderful.

I listened to Unless by Carol Sheilds and really enjoyed it. (And it's currently up for grabs in the audio VBB...:whistle)

I read The Accidental, but didn't like it nearly as much as the reviewers and the person that recommended it to me. I thought it was okay, but not great.

I have The Debt to Pleasure on Mt. TBR. It was given to me in a big box of books from a family member, but I don't know if she actually read it before giving it to me.

I've read two other books by John McGahern, but not the one from this list. He's a very interesting but little known Irish writer.

Born Twice is on my wishlist. It's been recommended by several people recently, so it seems to be having a revival in popularity.

Stranger Things Happen has been on my wishlist for a while, but no one ever seems to have a copy.

Many of the books look interesting, though. I remember going through the list when it came out...

Wow, those look really cool...

I've read only two - Unless, which I loved, and Oh Pure And Radiant Heart, which I thought was really good as well.

I have Transmission on TBR via the Passport to the World VBB...

ETA: Just noticed that a book by Robert Hellenga is on the list - I read his first novel, The Sixteen Pleasures, and was, erm...underwhelmed.

I've read Achilles by Elizabeth Cook.

I did not find it to be an intense retelling of anything... I found it to be disjointed and forgettable.
