Title: Calendar YBS?

EllyMae58 - November 8, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
I know that LadyJanet was doing her own little calendar giveaway/swap thingy. That got me to thinking. With the new year coming up, everyone will need a new calendar, and a swap would be a great way to do this. It would be just like a YBS, but with 2008 calendars instead of books (so I guess it would be a YCS). It could be with any type of calendar: wall, desk, pocket, etc. We would take our turns, reveal what calendars we hold, do steals, etc.

What does everyone think? I always love having a brand-new colorful calendar to start my new year off. I am happy to play hostess; we could hold the swap anytime in the next few weeks, so then there will still be time to get the calendar mailed off for the first of the year. And the best thing yet - no TBRs!!

Please provide your thoughts. If you think it's a bad idea, my feelings won't be hurt!

I'd be happy to get it going soon...let's get some more feedback, see how many people are interested and would be ready to do it in the next couple of weeks or so.

Anyone else? I think 8 is enough for a swap of this sort, hopefully those that expressed interest will also sign up!

I will go ahead and post a thread for sign-ups this weekend, so we can get this show on the road. :D

Sounds like a fun idea. Sign me up as long as I will have some time to go shopping for a calender. lol

Also, quick question. Since these are calenders and time sensitive, would International players be shipping Air instead of Surface, so that the calenders arrive prior to the first of the year? It would be fun to have a calender from somewhere else in the world, although I suppose the holidays would be a bit different.

Well, that's one of the reasons I want to have this soon, so we can get the calendars in the mail...however, I don't feel it's right to say that you HAVE to ship airmail to be a part of this swap. I don't want someone to feel obligated.

Unless it was a larger desk calendar (which can be heavy like a book) I'd think most of the calendars will be relatively light and inexpensive to mail, so I'd hope airmail would be a viable option for anyone mailing out of the US.

So pleased this is going ahead :) Am going to go and look for a calendar today !!!!!

And will try and make it a small one so it won't cost a fortune to air it!
