If you have any questions please PM AlterEgoZoe or lizziwhizz.

Rules!
(1) I will post a list of books and the order of the box participants
(2) Each person may take as many books out of the box as they want; however, you must put in the same number of books. This means that you may be responsible for shipping the number of books that you have put in. You control how many books you are willing to ship by only taking out/putting in that number of books.
(3) Play may continue perpetually. You can choose to skip your turn by not taking any books out of the box and passing the turn on to the next person.
(4) The next round will begin on the 13th of every OTHER month following the end of play.
(5)This is a Horror book box. Please only put in books marked as such (although very closely related books are acceptable). Asterisks are used to indicate how many rounds a book has been in the bookbox. To Be Reads are okay but should be marked as such!
(6) You have 24 hours from the time the person before you posts their move in the thread to make your move. If you haven't made your move in that amount of time, you may be moved to the end of the list. If you don't show up at all for a round, you will be removed from the list for the next round. However, if you want to rejoin at any time, you will be free to do so.
(7) New participants are welcome and can join at any time! If we are in the middle of a round, they will be added to the end of the list.
(8) The list of participants will be randomized at the end of every 3rd round.
(9) Once you've taken your turn, please PM the next person to let them know it's their turn. If you can't PM them for some reason, please say so when you post your move, so someone else can!
(10)If you have any questions please PM AlterEgoZoe or lizziwhizz.

Woohooo!! Love the Horror VBB.

Confirming!! :yahoo:

CheriePie - November 1, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
I'm here, but I'll probably have to skip this last month too. It should be all I need to get caught up though, and then I can get in some more horror reads to be able to play in this box again. :)

Tribefan - November 1, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
I need to drop out of this box for now! I not going to be around very much because of the busy holiday season. At The Carousel Dinner Theatre we just started the show "White Christmas" and every show is almost sold out so with me working 2 jobs I am barely going to have enough time to sleep!

AlterEgoZoe - November 1, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
Cherie, I bumped you to the bottom, incase by then you can play.

Awww thanks hon, that's sweet!

I've just been so backed up with owed TBRs, what with all my traveling, and lots of rings and rays that came in over the summer, and all the TBRs I used to swap with... But I'm finally beginning to see a bit of a dent in that list. It may take the rest of the winter to be caught up enough. It's kinda like credit overload you know... I hope to never get myself in that kinda hole again. It kinda sucks when you can't really choose what you want to read next and your reading list is dictated by the order in which you owe things... :sigh:

rebeccaljames - November 2, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
I would like to skip this round. I have to many owed TBRs and I am in school right now so I won't have time to do any reading until December.

redhot-brat - November 2, 2007 05:21 AM (GMT)
Woooo Hoooo - confirm me. :bananadance:

lizziwhizz - November 2, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)

sarradee - November 2, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)
I need to drop out of this box, I'm finding myself stretched too thin on commitments and need to consilidate a little bit. :)

mellion108 - November 3, 2007 01:57 PM (GMT)
Oh, yeah, baby...confirming!

Gothamgal - November 7, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
Totally confirming. I have some brand spanking new books...

Gothamgal - November 7, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)

Seriously, I'm glad for the break, so I can finish a few books, LOL.

I got confused when I saw the first post and thought you were asking me to go first, but I see it now as wait until the day... I'm a little slow today. Nanowrimo is making me CRAAAAAAAAAAAZY!

CheriePie - November 9, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)

Since I'm new to all of this i have a question, i have a book that's categorized as a Dark Thriller, Sharp Objects by Jillian Flynn. Will it be okay to put it in this box or should i look through my books again? Sorry if this is a dumb question.....

the only dumb question is the one not asked!

This from the gal who won The Stupid Question Award back in grade school. yes, for real...

Though I don't know the book personally, I told k_kay I thought it'd be fine. Dark thriller to me is pretty much horror, like Koontz or such, but obviously it's up to the box host to give the final word. :)

 Dark Thrillers are fine!

k_kay - November 13, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Oh Good! That means i have 2 books that are more considered "thrillers" but i figure murders and/or ghosts would also fall into the horror category. However if ever i put in a book that's not close enough to ya'lls specifications just let me know. I'm kind of fumbling around trying to get the hang of all these boxes, swaps ect.

The worst that will happens is that it will not get taken out and you will have to replace it after 2 rounds. No harm done. :D

Cool, i just didn't want to be the idiot who couldn't differentiate between thrillers and horror.

redhot-brat - November 13, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
Don't feel bad K_Kay ... I've wondered a few times on some of my books listed as thrillers or suspense. They don't have actual "monsters" (what most consider horror) , but they have psychos , aerial killers, and other such "creatures" instead.
I'd personally classify them as "Sick Shit or Dark Thrillers", but most come close enough they could be horror too.

As far as Dean Koontz goes.... that REALLY depends on which book of his you're talking about. Alot of his thrillers could very easily be labeled horror, but just as many fall into the mystery category and not horror at all. For his books, I'd say judge by the storyline, if it reads like horror, call it horror. :P

I think classifying a book is just a matter of perspective & personal opinion alot of the time.

k_kay - November 13, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
I so agree Brat.

While the Gillian Flynn book is more of a mystery thriller, i consider it also horror. I mean hello serial killer after children. Creeps me out.

The second book is considered a thriller but has ghosts and moments in it gave me chills so.....when it's my turn I'll list them and hope that someone wants them. No biggie if i have to replace them, they both have a decent sized wishlist on BookMooch.

I think I've listened to the audio of Sharp Objects... And it was pretty good as I recall.. :-)

Hey Gotham --- you listed what you took out/replaced, but forgot to list what you put in. You need to cross your name off the list too.

You also might want to adjust the books out of play , so that the ones you took out read like this after the title (Redhot-Brat -----> GothamGal). That way people know both whose it was & who it's going too.

I'm not trying to nitpick or anything. Just thought I'd offer a few tips .... It takes a little bit to get used to all the steps in updating. Lord knows I still mess them up more often then not. :giggle:

Thanks Brat! I appreciate the help!
I thought I put the books I put in in the correct place, under "New in Box" but I could be wrong???

Can anyone help me out with the code for a strikethrough??

I adjusted the books out of play.

Whooo, okay, now I think I'm okay, but not sure... Help, please!

QUOTE (redhot-brat @ Nov 13 2007, 01:17 PM)

If you look under the smilies there are 2 buttons (Check Post Length · BB Code Help) , clicking on the one marked BB Code Help will open a box that shows all the codes to do diffrent things such as underline, strike through, etc etc. It's VERY helpful when still learning them all. :)

As for where you put the books you put in the box , you did have that right. Just we usually put it up with the takes out/replaces too.

If you look at the updates after yours you'll see what I mean. It shows it as .....

screenname takes out/replaces....
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3

Screenname puts in ....
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3

Hope that helps a bit. Though you did very well for just learning especially as you were first up and had no previous ones to guide you. You'll catch on real quick I'm sure. BTW - Welcome to the box!!

I believe it's been 24 hours since the start of mellion's turn--she hasn't logged into the site since the 10th. I'll bump her to the end per the box rules and create the update.
