Sorry this has run a tad later than usual. As most of you know, my summer was pretty hectic and filled with lots of traveling and house shopping. But at least I'm finally able to stop living out of a half-packed suitcase for a little while. Until next spring at any rate. :lol:

Anyhoo, I finally finished up and sent on my sweeps book to Breeze, who was the Decoy last time around, so I figured it's high time I get my ass in gear and get the new Sweepstakes posted.

In finalizing the stuff, I was deciding on the date needed to sign up by, the date I'd draw the winners name, and decided on December 1st, figuring that November 1st was cutting it too close. But then I thought that with all the other Boxing Day and Holiday Exchanges going on in December, maybe this would be better pushed out till January. Meaning that the winner's name would be drawn on January 1st instead. And all the books would start tricking in during January and February, when there's not as many other gifts floating around for the Holiday exchanges.

Also if we go with January 1st instead, we'd be exactly 6 months from the last drawing date (July 1st) so if we want to remain on a sort of Jan/Apr/Jul/Oct schedule as it was before, it'd be easier to adapt back to that if we go with January.

So I'll put it out to vote. I definitely feel that a November 1st deadline is much too short of time to make sure everyone who wants to play sees the thread and signs up, but I'm willing to put that date up as an option as well.

So you know that I'm leaning towards Jan 1, but now I'd like to know how y'all feel too so VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! :giggle:

Everyone who wants to play sends the organiser (Cherie in this case) their details. On the drawing date, Cherie will draw one name from the hat - the winner. She will then draw a second name - the decoy. Everyone is given the winners details and sends the winner a book EXCEPT for the winner who is given the decoy's details and hopefully diesn't realise that s/he is the winner until loads of books start arriving!

I won earlier this year and it was great fun receiving all the books.

Yup!! I won shortly after I first joined the site and got tons of books. Come to think of it that is probably the cause of my book addiction. :giggle:

I would love to win.... but then again I am quite frightened of winning too! :giggle: I may drown under an avalanche of books!

I hear ya! Fortunately, Mike finished my new bookcase for me this summer after I won. I believe all the books coming in, more so than usual, was the catalyst to make him get that project finished. :whip: :lol:


Though if we ended up going with a Nov 1 date, though it looks like that's in 2nd place next to Jan 1, that'd be one way to cut down on the # of people participating huh? Sneak it in in only a week's time. :lol: Naaah, that wouldn't be fair to the winner.... we need as much exposure as possible I believe, and no people opting out because they figure December is busy enough. Which is why I figure Jan 1st would be great. Nail the next winner with just as many books as I got!! :P

I'm game. Tim might throw me out but hey sometimies books are better than boyfriends. :evil: At least the books don't whine. :rofl:

Okay, so it looks like the majority is in agreement with having this be for Jan 1st. I'll go ahead and post the signup in the next few days anyway. And make sure to bump it right before it gets closed.


ETA - On second thought, I think I'll hold the signup so that it doesn't seem like it's sitting out here forever. But I have slightly edited and composed everything in a text file offline so it's ready to go, say probably about mid to late November.
