giz-angel - October 24, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
OK hopefully I've not missed anyone out or muffed up the links - I decided to more or less keep the order and I will randomise next time.

What do people think about dropping the books that are outstanding for over 3 rounds?

I think that's a good idea - we probably won't hear from the people who currently have books in for 3 or more rounds anyway.

Also wanted to let you know that I will be on vacation (and probably offline the entire time) from Nov 2 - 11. I'm pretty far down on the list but if needed, feel free to bump me or just skip me altogether as I may skip this round anyway.

Thnx

Marked you on hols thanks dd

The reason I ask everyone for opinions on this, rather than unilaterally deciding to drop the books out, is cos obv people have taken books out of the box and then put these in to replace them..... so there is a mismatch of numbers. I'm not totally comfortable about it, personally speaking, but neither am I hugely bothered. I wanted to see what everyone thought about it..... if it's a  or a :nono:

Thinking aloud I suppose for me, I spend a LOT on postage, because I am in the UK and all that - not moaning, I don't have to play, but maybe that's why I am a bit resentful of just dropping books.

cestmoi - October 25, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
I know I'm new to the box...but if these people have been too busy (or whatever is keeping them away) to check in and replace the books..most likely they aren't going to mail them...maybe we could take them out for now and if these people come back, ask them to replace them before they rejoin?

:ditto2:

I know how you feel Giz but you can't force people to do the right thing

FamFatale - October 25, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Checking in - Will be away 11/3 - 11/13 for the birth of my first grandbaby..
May be checking for my turn but don't know how I'd know what I could replace with. Will try to remember to take a list with me.....

Yes I agree with this idea. I would suggest maybe moving them out of the box, but keeping track of them somehow. Maybe add them to the Books Out of Play post. That way if those members are able to come back in the future, they can make right and rejoin. Of course I personally, would also expect them to catch up on owed books as well, as the number of those is quite large for certain folks.

What I do not like to see, is current members adding in extra books to make up for those who did not meet their commitments. It is not their responsibility and not fair to them.

Maybe it's easier to leave them where they are, that way we really do keep track of them.

And I agree W- I for one cannot afford to put in extra books because of the shipping. Well, let's see what everyone thinks. And now I will PM la fromage to start!

:bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance:

It's a girl born today 10/25/07
Weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz.

As yet unnamed - my daughter apparently can't make a decision to save her beautiful little soul. But the baby is said to have a full head of hair about 1 inch long and with natural highlights.

Am flying out tomorrow morning for a quick visit but will return 11/3 - 11/13 as originally planned. But I guess I'll be babysitting not helping with the delivery. Apparently the "little princess" had to have it her way.

Would AlterEgoZoe and cowgirl-up PM me with addresses. Will try to get the books out in between my trips to Denver.....

shaunesay - October 26, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
Congrats Fam!

dancing-dog - October 26, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
Congratulations Fam on your new grandaughter! :D

Hello all -- glad to be here.

Question: Looking at the books out of play thread, I see this one from Round 14:

*Indian Pipes (A Victoria Trumbull Mystery) by Cynthia Riggs (AlterEgoZoe->Tribefan)

Is it acceptable for Tribefan to put this book back in the box after she's read it?

Elsi

It would be acceptable if she chose to elsi. Anyone can put in any book as long as it is in keeping with the theme of the box, even if it has been in the box before.

But if a book is placed in the box and not removed in two rounds it has to be replaced. And if a player choses to leave the box, they have to wait until all their books are chosen :)

MUST go to bed :giggle:

redhot-brat - October 30, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)

Thanks for the pm, Nou. Yes, I am at my sister's in Philly until Nov 9. There are 4 kids here 6 and under (my sister's are 6. 5. and 2 and my own Makaio) so we are pretty busy all the time! I don't have time to check my email let alone any other websites! If my turn comes up in any other vbbs, could you please just skip me? If I need to replace something, I'll be able to when I get home. Thanks!

Oh, and for this vbb, could you jut skip me?
