For some reason people have decided to not torture you. Including me and don't ask me why cause I don't know (yes I'm regretting and trust me it's was totally accidental!)
I've ordered you something through amazon (or was it seller on the amazon) so pay attention (it's not marked as ballyswapper parcel)
PepperVL - October 13, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
I still have to read the book I'm sending to you. :D
wss4 - October 13, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)

 cos it wasn't one I was expecting so I got my boyf to open it for me and look at description..... so I do not know the title but he looked for clues so I know there is a mention of Belgrade.... thus, I concluded it was from you!
Now my boyf thinks I am even more mad for not wanting to know anymore and making him hide the package until 1st Nov!!!!
morsecode - October 18, 2007 03:31 PM (GMT)

Me = Newbie, has a question
What is 'Ballyswappers' ? I have been wanting to ask for a while but was hoping it would become clear to me at some point.

Ballyswappers is just the name of one of our monthly exchange groups.
A group of people (usually 12), each is assigned a month, on the month the other 11 send them a book.
Does that make sense?

Oh that makes perfect sense! Thank you!!
I guess it is too late to join in the fun though...
giz-angel - October 18, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)

I'm sure there is a slot open in one of the exchange groups
(since she posted, why don't you ask Giz about EuroXchange? :) )
giz-angel - October 18, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
She is IN Euroxchange :giggle: we aren't enough for her!
zzz - October 18, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
but isn't this idiotic: I'm second year/circle in BallySwappers and I don't have a clue what the bloody word means
When I try to picture it I always imagine belly dancers who are swapping .... books??? :erm: ... this is surrealism!
(I guess it has some meaning after all)
camis - October 19, 2007 07:19 AM (GMT)
I'm guessing the Bally bit comes from Ballycumber - the little running book logo

PepperVL - October 19, 2007 11:23 AM (GMT)
Um... I think it was Bountifulpots who suggested the name BallySwappers when we first organized the group.
Everyone seemed to like it, so that's what we went with. I believe it comes from Ballycumber... and the fact that we're swapping (well technically exchanging, but whatever) books. :D
zzz - October 19, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Yes I supposed it has everything with ballycumber but I can't translate that so it's the same as ... mamihlapinatapei (it's from the language of one African tribe).
And moreover that cumber always appears in my mind as cucumber
So I'm most definitively lost case!
