Title: New Book Group

cheesygiraffe - January 20, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
I see where a lot of people want to be a part of a group. Since I'm not in one anymore. I would like to see if we could possibly start another one. Who would be interested? We can decide more about the group after we see who all wants to do this. :)

AM10000 - January 20, 2007 06:05 PM (GMT)
I might be interested in doing one again.. I'm still waiting on books from last year though! (My month was June 06) I'd be happy having June again since that is my Bday month! :D

ctgmom - January 20, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
I would definately be interested!

I'm not entirely sure of the 'fine print' relating to groups (primarily, how to select a book to send) but I'd like to participate if the group goes International.

morsecode - January 21, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
maybe if you need an extra person to fill a group out...

I personally usually try to find something on the person's wishlist. But with my group (RMTBRBB) it does not have to be a wishlist book, so each person lists their preferences (genre, for example) and I (as organizer) send out that info each month (along with the address). It's also a good idea, especially if you're not sending a wishlist book, to check to see if that person already has that book on his/her shelf.

I would be interested too!

I might be interested... :)

I'd like to know what exactly is involved, too.

Here's a quick run through.

The group is comprised of 12 people. Each person is assigned a month (so you're making a year-long commitment for this exchange group). For that person's month, everyone else sends that person one book (wishlist or not - though that could be a group preference - does any group ask for wishlist only?). The person can't open the packages until the first day of the month (although some books come later in the month, which is okay).

So when it's your month, you should expect 11 books. smile.gif And then you'll be sending out 11 books, spread out one per month.

Here's what I posted in another thread:

I'm maybe interested...

it depends if the whislistbook is mandatory or not...because for me sometimes is hard to get whislist books

FranciJo - January 21, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
I'd be interested, if there's room. (Otherwise I can wait until another one starts or there's an opening in an existing group.)

cheesygiraffe - January 21, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
It doesn't have to be a wishlist book.
We can always do 2 groups. ;) The more the merrier. :D

Apparently the book-o-holics group is done and I'm not sure if RMTBRBB will go on when the last person has had her turn, soooo, I'm interested.

dancing-dog - January 22, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
I would be interested too - if it's not too late! (I never seem to see these kind of threads in time!)

nwpassage - January 22, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
Well, since it looks like there may be a second group... hey sure why not? Put me down if there's room somewhere!

ramson - January 22, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
I am already part of the Reading Divas group but am happy to join another one. If there are enough people, what are the odds of making a US only group and an international group?

TwiggySC1973 - January 23, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
I want in!

Okay I've got 20 so far and I know Pepper was trying to see who was left of her bookgroup which might be lumped into these 2 groups. ;)

Do we want them both to be international?

PepperVL - January 24, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
So far I know that seven people will be leaving BallySwappers...which WILL be staying international...and will be restarting in June (our current cycle ends in May).

It's possible more people will leave as I haven't heard back from everyone and there are a couple of undecided people.

AM10000 - January 25, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
I would like to do a US group..but it isn't necessary.. :D

nursiegirl42 - January 25, 2007 04:36 PM (GMT)
A US group would be nice!

ctgmom - January 25, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
I could do either.

morsecode - January 25, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
thinking about it, I think I'd only like to do one group.

I'm one of the people who'll be staying on from Ballyswappers, but since so many of the the others are leaving I'm sure that I'll end up giving to many of the people "talking" in this thread :D
