Title: BOXING DAY PARTNERS WENT OUT

Danesnboxers - September 24, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
OK, I'm sending out partners tonight.

Remember the only rule is to send one book off the person't wish list. If your partner is out of the country please mail your package in plenty of time for them to get it by 12/26.

If you have any problems PLEASE let me know in time so that no one is left out.

These are the people getting partners. If I missed anyone please let me know within the next 48 hrs. I tried to make matches according to your preferences.

Please post here to acknowledge that you got your partner.

I promise to keep my wishlist up to date. There are several (okay lots of) new books coming out in the next couple of months and I will be adding them to my list.

except my B-day was in July (I'm not participating in B-Day exchange) and my book month is Oct :P

Indeed how to solve this problem? namely I have found few books on discount from my partner's WL which I'd like to send but then, they participating in all (three) exchanges and there is monthly book group. What are the others doing?

My partner is also participating in a lot of exchanges so I think I will wait as long as I can (at least until Halloween) before I look at their wishlist again and then I guess just hope for the best! I sometimes try to find the rarer, harder to find books on their list or the books that have been on their list the longest - in hopes that they are less likely to be chosen!

I know, not a good answer but it's kind of a strategy. Would like to hear what other people do too.

zzz - September 24, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
My partner and I have completely different interests in books and therefore I don't have a clue what is hard to find or rare or whatever in these genres. So that doesn't work for me. I said once it's not good to have so many exchanges in such a short time and it has been turned out that I have problems with book exchanges  so I don't think I'll wait or something. I said to my Halloween partner that s/he can check with cheesy since she'll check my October Indecisive books. (problem is that my partner never suggested something like that)

So I'm sorry if my partner receives duplicate (I've received few earlier and I'm totally OK with that) but I don't wanna make shopping for my partner stressful. I always enjoyed while thinking about books and goodies and if I preoccupy myself with thoughts about duplicates it will ruin the feeling. I expressed my warning in time, the rest is not on me :)

PepperVL - September 24, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Perhaps we could create a list of "check people" for the exchanges and monthly groups?

Then people know who to contact to find out what is being gotten/who their person's other partner is without their person saying something. People are free to contact my other people to find out what I'm getting.

Are the exchange organizers/checkers okay with that?

If so, I'll start a new thread with a list that can be pinned/updated to keep as a reference. :D

Sunlightbub - September 24, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
I think there is so much going on that it'll be be very difficult to keep up with everyone's possible duplicates..I don't think any of us are that sort of books that a duplicate is going to worry us all that much, and they allways come in handy for swaps etc anyway  Let's not stress about it too much.

But keep your bloomin' wishlists up to date or get :whip: :whip: :whip:

zzz - September 24, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
Yes I agree with Sunny. It would be too much work, shopping would be too cautious etc.
Indeed I don't like to think if I purchase one of the expensive books would it be duplicate; I surely wouldn't like but if it is - it is.

AceofHearts - September 24, 2007 10:41 PM (GMT)
One year I had just finished reading a book and my partner received it and that happened 3 times. Soooo sorry to be a hard a$$ but if you receive a duplicate from me, too bad. You can use it to swap with or trade :D

Danes, have received my partner and am very happy :D :D

Bibliocrates - September 24, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
I got my partner too. Thank you Danes!

HoserLauren - September 24, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)

I like the way you think! I feel the same way. Its always nice to have extra fodder for swaps.

I too have gotten my partner.

Thanks, Danes!

I do the same thing at times. I figure they listed those books for a reason. And than I hope they are still interested :)
