Oh, how sad! A Wrinkle in Time is my absolute favorite book and L'Engle is my second favorite author (Marion Zimmer Bradley is first). :sigh:

It's a children's book and it's fantasy. Do you like those kind of books? If you do maybe you should check her out. :)

i can't remember if i've ever read anything by her but i do know she was on the required reading list for the school system when i was a children's librarian.

Oh, I am familiar with her books. I've just never read any of them. Fantasy was not my thing as a reader when I was growing up.

Really the Wrinkle in Time series is more science fiction than fantasy - at least starting out. An Acceptable Time would be more fantasy than sci fi. And the Austin family books aren't fantasy at all.

I tried reading "A Wrinkle in Time" and some of her other books, but none of them ever captured my attention, so I always put them down 20-30 pages into it.

Sad, though.

She counts as one of my favorite authors. I like her essays as much as her fiction (maybe more, nowadays - it's been a while since I've read any of her fiction). Thanks for posting this.

How sad :( RIP to her.

A Wrinkle in Time was required reading in grade 6, but I read it before then too (I had a habit of pinching my older brothers' school books after they read them, and ones my parents had to buy in high school, lol) so I've read that one a couple of times. Adam and I are in the middle of reading it together. I think that's the only one of her books I've read though.
