Title: Bookswaplive

momx3lovesbooks - August 16, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
I've been MIA practically all summer, but I am finally getting back into the swing of things (kids going back to school on Tuesday the 21st..YEA!!).

I went to bookswaplive to see if there was any celebration swaps planned (you know because the kiddos are going back..lol) and was floored by the pornographic spam over there.

Does anyone use that site anymore? :(

Not sure as I have not been there in ages. I know that Missy has disappeared from here and it appears Bookcrossing as well.

Wow! I guess no one's hanging around there anymore. :(

When I read this I went over and started deleting - I hadn't been to the site for ages and it looks like no one is using it anymore - the thing is you have to open each post and delete it individually, so I spent half an hour and decided I really don't have any more time to devote to it right now - and not sure it's worth the effort if the site has been abandoned..... I don't know - maybe someone else knows more?? Cherie?? I'm a moderator there but was never very active and don't know all the ins and outs - maybe Cherie would know if there's a way to do a mass delete and get that junk off there?

I kept having trouble getting avatars and signatures to work over there in the forum and I just never got comfortable with the swap set up there. I haven't been over there in ages myself.

I'll do it now. Basically you just click on the "moderate this forum" in the lower right of any forum index page and it'll bring you to a page similar to the Mod CP here where you can mass-delete.

I used to keep up on it in the beginning, but after awhile, and with no new posts there and no new swaps going on there, I just let it drop off my todo list.

Anyhoo, I think the way most of us stopped playing there, at least my impression, is that since Missy was no longer actively participating in it's upkeep, and didn't really seem to have the motiviation to do so, every time we had an issue where someone stole back a book that someone just stole from them, which we all know is a no-no :nono: in the swaps, we were no longer able to get her to reverse the last move. :( So we'd have people carelessly making that mistake, and then have to live with it. Not good! :whip:

I know some of the Ukers often have live swaps over there, but I doubt they visit the forum.
