I've actually read some of those! I chose The Cider House Rules... I LOVED that book!

I voted for The Bluest Eye and Cider House Rules because I've read both. :) Both were good..very different reads though!

I voted Bluest Eye, Cider House Rules, and It. Each one is great... but it very much depends on your mood, as they are three very different styles.

I vote for...
Contact, 'cos I'm in a sci-fi/fantasy mood
Emma, 'cos everybody's got to read Emma
& A Room With a View, 'cos I was so impressed with A Passage to India.

I chose 2 books.
My first choice is It by Stephen king. great read
My second is Emma by Jane Austen.
it all depends on your mood.
It is a very big book, scary but a story that sucks you in.
Emma is a very interesting read. I have read it twice and really liked it. a classic

I voted for Contact cuz I loved the movie (Jodie Foster). I didn't know Carl Sagan had written a book.

Picked The Cider House Rules because Irving is wonderful (and I listened to the audiobook of this one).
Picked It because it's one of my favorite Stephen King stories, though a little weird...
Picked The Queen one because it looked interesting.

Hi,
I just saw the post and I would like to invite you to the 1001 book club on 43things.com. Every moth we pick a book from the list and try to read it. It's a nice way of deciding what to read next and sharing opinions with other people. This month we are reading Things Fall Apart.
Good luck with the goal.
I have not read any of the books you have on your list, so i did not vote :)
adding the link to the goal on 43things.

I chose "Sexing the Cherry" because I remember loving it when I read it (MANY years ago now), and because it's nice and short. I'm into short books at the moment, makes me feel like I'm reading more. :)

I haven't voted because I haven't read enough of the books in contention, but I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of approval for The Cider House Rules and It.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's 1001 mean? Sounds like a course schedule, but I'm assuming that there's like a 1001 books to read list someplace?

I have voted for Northanger Abbey because it's one of Austen's less popular novels. It's shorter than Emma too so that you will be finished quicklier and can go on read another book on your list. Northanger Abbey is Austen's earliest novel which she wrote at age 16. It has some parodic elements on Gothic adventure and suspense novels which the heroine of Northanger Abbey loves to read, which you might enjoy!

I chose The Bluest Eye and A Room with a View. I've read both and they're both wonderful! I've read The Cider House Rules and it's good, but I can't say I enjoyed it as much as others who have posted.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I will be starting 'It' next. Might just sneak in 'The Cider House Rules' too :giggle:

I've not read any of those books although I did see the IT movie. I chose IT since I liked the movie, The Cider House Rules because I've heard it's good and Sexing the Cherry because it just sounds cool.

Great Expectations is the first Dickens book I read and I was surprised that I really enjoyed it!
