Title: How do you "circulate" your BC books?
Description: Just wondering..

AlterEgoZoe - August 14, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
So, how do you?

Usually, if I receive a book from a certain thing, I won't put it back into the same format, unless I really need to.

I would either put it into a bookbox (real or vbb), swap, trade it, use it for a monthly swap (like Happiness day), a relay or wild release it.

I know some people use PBS or bookmooch or one of those other sites...

Almost all of my Bookcrossing books are recirculated back into BookObsessed. I either use them in a swap, VBB, or I RABCK them. I sometimes put them up on PBS or BookMooch, but usually only if they are not wanted here. I try to save the better or more popular books to use here in swaps & VBBS because I like to know that they are staying within the Bookcrossing system and will more than likely be journaled and passed on to another bookcrosser. Of course if they are not, that is okay too, because once I send them off they are no longer mine. But I love it when they float around amongst Bookcrossers.

If I got it from PBS, I will send it back through there. But if I got it from here or as a RABCK or something I try to make sure it goes back to another bookcrosser.

Mostly through my local group, but am trying to move away from that and into BookObsessed. I used to swap to family and such, but not too many people register anything.

Recently, I've been active enough here that nearly everything I'm reading is going to someone at BookObsessed, but I do send a few things out through PBS or mooch...mostly things that I don't think folks here would be interested in or things that don't get taken from a VBB.

Most of my bookring books come from the forums at BC because there aren't too many active rings organized/advertised here.

Everything filters through BookObessed or Bookcrossing. (BO moreso than BC as I only participate in the odd ring or box over there) I have a hard enough time keeping up with these two and still finding time to actually read the books!

PepperVL - August 15, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
Um... I don't pay attention?

Really, mostly they go to BO'ers, as I don't do PBS or BM or TT or any of those sites. And I'm not really trading outside of here, though occasionally I'll be contacted by someone.

As for how I got it (swap/VBB/etc.)... I can't remember from one minute to the next!

terrafreaky - August 15, 2007 02:02 AM (GMT)
Whatever happens to be the fastest way to get it out of my house. (To make room for a new book, of course!)

I don't do swaps anymore, so I'll throw books in a VBB if I am up, or soon to be up. Otherwise I'll put them on PBS or wild release if they fit the current NJABBIC theme.

Most of mine end back on here or on the BCUK Extra site ( a much smaller UK only version of this site!) A few get wild released if they fit a challenge. Very occasionally they go on BookMooch, but usually only if they have been offered up elsewhere and not been taken.

SimplyCee - August 18, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
I don't use PBS or any of those sites. If I realize that I haven't moved any books in a while, I'll do a RABCK raffle or search cliffs (which is actually my favorite method of moving books). Or if I get a lot of books at once, I start trying to get them out by whatever means necessary lol.

I like book relays, but they don't work as well as they used to due to the reduced number of active relayers.

I invite one randomly selected bookcrosser per month to select a book from my AVLs or TBRs.

I sign up for a lot of 'bookbags' (the Australian equivalent of bookboxes.)

I started a (very small) bookcrossing zone at work a few months ago, and I try to add a book I've read and enjoyed to it every week.

I use bookmooch.com, but less regularly since the changes in US Postage rates as many bookmoochers are no longer prepared to ship books to Australia.

occasional genuine unsolicited RABCKs.

I've been known to thrust a good book into the (often reluctant) hands of visiting friends or relatives.

and I try to Wild Release at least a couple of books every month.

Daelith - August 18, 2007 01:53 PM (GMT)
Well if I don't reuse them for a swap, VBB or RABCK, I will take them to one of our monthly meet-ups or wild release them.

Ixion - August 18, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
Honestly, it depends. If it's a decent book and I want to unload it, I'd normally trade it around here. If it stunk or I never really heard of it before and I want to unload it, it gets posted for a couple of months on Paperbackswap.com. If no takers or too many of the same book listed on there, it's wild release time!

JessicaEby - August 18, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
I use a variety of methods, but for books I register, wild release is generally my favourite. I'm a litlle more reluctant to do it with books I've gotten from other BCers, usually, but I do wild release them as well sometimes...

cowgirl-up - August 19, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
I pretty much just wait until the right opportunity comes along for a certain book. If a book is hugely successful in a swap I'm very likely to put it back into another swap. If a book fits into a VBB I'm participating in I may set it aside and wait for my next turn there. Once I have an exchange partner assigned to me I immediately search their wish list and do everything I can to acquire a book (or books) for that person. One of my favorite ways to pass books along is RABCKs. If I'm sending a package to someone I usually search their wish list and try to see if I have anything else they might enjoy. It's always nice to send those little bonus books. I've never done PBS or BookMooch.

I tend to only wild release books I've registered. I have occasionally, but only if it fits with a themed release challenge or it's not on any other wish lists.
