Krin,
I just read that book in order to pass it onto someone on BO as well. It's a great book, similar to Memoirs of a Geisha, but different enough to let you think of it as a different book.

lexilewords - August 9, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
i'd like to join as well :)

my choice is 'Tall, Dark and Dead' (Tate Hallaway) please!

Lexie

Hi Marlene! Yes, it's still going and new players are welcome!

Thanks for joining!

GateGypsy - February 3, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
Krin! I have to change my books :giggle: I have come into possession of both Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (courtesy of VeganMedusa-- thanks again!) and The Great Gatsby

Sooooo... luckily you've added more TBRs since I signed up last year  Here are my new selections for you to choose from if I get drawn, if I'm allowed to change my requests!

One Day the Ice Will Reveal All Its Dead
Middlesex
The Voyage
The Lobster Chronicles: Life of a Very Small Island
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Valiant: a Modern Tale of Faerie
Mister Monday

Thanks again, I think this is such a fun way of moving through TBRs! I think I'll do one of these, myself, in the summertime when I'm done with all my school reading  and have had a chance to catch up on bookrings.

(edit Feb 6: removed Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell from the list -- I bought it today!)

Booksforever - February 3, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
I would like to join. Here are my picks:

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

thanks!!!!! :D Justine aka Booksforever

Marlene - February 3, 2008 11:03 AM (GMT)
yes I would love to do one of these one day, but I can't be as generous as some of you guys.

I would love to start one like this.
It is so much fun for the people that join but also for the host I think cause they can see which books are most wanted and such.
Maybe just pick 1 or 2 winners so it is affordable?

Or play in a few less swaps? save some money.

One day. I will!!!

krin511 - February 6, 2008 04:00 PM (GMT)
Welcome Booksforever! Glad you joined. Feel free to pick more books if you'd like since the only one I have from your list is Running With Scissors.

And yes, GateGypsy, you can change your list - I'm glad you did! :)

Daelith - February 6, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
I'm going to toss my name in the hat for one of the following:

Top Dog
Tall, Dark and Dead
The Murder at Hazelmoor

Thank you Krin!!

Hello! I'd like to recommend:
Nathaniel's Nutmeg by Giles Milton (I read a different history book by him and it was very good!)
(Also, I read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close last year, it was quite unique. Similar in style to Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.)

I have as well...but as my luck is the opposite of good in regards to these sorts of things at the moment I am trying to balance the scales by acquiring wishlist books to Rabck to unsuspecting folks...

Booksforever - February 11, 2008 03:33 PM (GMT)
Can you choose a book that someone else has already chosen? Is it just books from your TBR or your AVL too?
thanks! (can you tell I'm new to this?) :D
