KathyB - August 13, 2007 10:57 AM (GMT)
Extremely interesting list. I haven't read very many of the 2000, but have read a huge number of the 1900s, mostly centering around the years I was in college or recently graduated. I must have stopped reading good literature when I had children  But some of the selections -- Billy Budd -- aweee gag! I'd read quite a number of the 1800, 1700 mainly the ones I had to read for school (or the ones considered very risque for their time -- I'd read all of those!). There were quite a number that I had picked up and tried to read and didn't make it though. I'd read almost all the sci-fi titles :D
Let me think on this one. I might join.
msjoanna - August 13, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
I might be interested. I have a few of the books from the list already hanging out on Mt. TBR. But I don't have much to contribute to get the box rolling right now...
chambejd - August 13, 2007 01:34 PM (GMT)
I might be interested as well. I just started a bookray for my one AVL book from the list but I have some TBR.
geishabird - August 13, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
That's a great idea for a box. I know I have some to contribute and would definitely be interested.
tranq1 - August 13, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
I would join. I have 2 or 3 I could contribute to start.
chronicbooker3 - August 13, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
I would be interested just have to see if I have any to add
Tribefan - August 13, 2007 03:15 PM (GMT)
I don't want to be a part of this box at this time but have a couple books I could donate to start out the box. Let me know!
rebeccaljames - August 13, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
This sounds very interesting. I don't think I have any to contribute right now to get started but I will check and see later when I have time to look at the list.
luckaye - August 13, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
Sounds like this is a viable VBB :yahoo:
When would people like to get started? I was thinking in a week or so - or is that too soon?
I have never run a VBB before so let me know if I am doing things wrong!
nvangel2073 - August 13, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
camis - August 14, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
I would be interested in this, although not sure that I have enough books from the list to play regularly!

How about the beginning of September? Would give everyone a chance to look through the list and see what they have available (and possibly get a few TBRs read as well... :P )
KathyB - August 15, 2007 03:40 AM (GMT)
I best bow out. I got way too many TBRs and it's hard keeping up with the VBBs I'm already in. :sigh:
Bibliocrates - August 15, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
Yes, I agree - great idea for a VBB. I would love to tackle this list, but I too have way to many TBR's to read so I won't be participating. Plus, I'm not sure what a VBB is or how it works, still trying to figure out reveals (and please don't refer me to the FAQ's, I've read them, they didn't help me understand)... For now, I'll just get my 1001 Books fix from the old-school relay of the same name.

tranq1 - August 15, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)

#437 - A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
#863 - Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
#866 - Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne
Not sure if you're interested in including abridged editions in the box? If you are, I can also donate an abridged edition of:
#911 - The Pit and The Pendulum (abridged edition) by Edgar Allan Poe
shnedwards - August 16, 2007 06:12 PM (GMT)
I'd be interested! Count me in! :bananadance:
bartonz - August 16, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
Add me in as well. I have tons of these that are tbr.
darkpunkangel - August 16, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
girlKlingon - August 17, 2007 06:59 AM (GMT)
Okay, I've just joined after reading Lukaye and Bartonz's messages to the '1001' yahoo group.
Now sadly, it appears that my name was already taken (probably by me from some earlier inspection of the site, but not knowing how to work it), so here I am girlKlingon.
I have a LOTS of books waiting in my tbr pile, but one that I am willing to part with this afternoon: Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro.
So...what happens now?
bartonz - August 17, 2007 07:15 AM (GMT)
At this point we're just getting the group together. In earlier posts it looks like September is the goal for this starting. I'm not sure how, but I suppose we'll all dump in a few books to kick it off.
luckaye - August 17, 2007 08:08 AM (GMT)
I reckon Sept 1st sounds like a date to start :) I'll get organised in a few days and list who is participating and which books we'll start off with :) Thanks so much for your interest everyone - I'm excited! :yahoo: :whee: :w00t2:
perfect-circle - August 17, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
I'd definitely like to join but I'm away from Sept 1st to the 13th, so can I be at the end or just skip the first round altogether please?
Shall go and see what I have ready to put in.
bigcurlyloz - August 17, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
How many books does everyone have to put in to kick it off? I think most of the ones I have are TBR but I am definitely interested....

Thanks for starting this! Is there any way you can retain the 1,001 book numbers and bookcrossing links with the books being offered on the list?

You might as well add me to this box, the worst that can happen is that I skip, right?
