Didn't our location used to be included in the member info that shows under our name in the left-hand side of any forum post? Why has it gone?

There may well be a good reason, but I thought I'd just add my two cents and say I liked it (except for all the many people who seemed not to have filled it in, and so I *still* didn't know where they were from). :shrug:

It is nice to know where everyone is. I was wondering about it as well but thought maybe I did something in my profile to stop it appearing :shrug:

It seems the location information is linked to the signature. You must have the option to see the signatures turned on and then you can see the location.

If you go to "My Controls" and then under Menu, Options, click on Board Settings. If you select Yes for the first question under Board Display Settings you will then see the location for each person (that has provided that info).

That was already set to yes by me...but I see chambejd's location anyway... :blink:

You do see it Amber? That's good isn't it? Or did you mean you don't see it? :unsure:
Because Chambe is right about what she said. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you.... Maybe some people do have something there in location and some don't.... :shrug:

Ok... maybe part of the problem was that in the particular thread I was reading, a lot of people hadn't listed their location.

But my location is in my profile, and I do have it set to show sigs, but my own location isn't showing up for me. I do see that chambejd is in Worcester and that cheesy is buried in books, but nothing for Amber or me. Amber, do you have your location filled out in the profile page?

Maybe I should just take this up in chit-chat and try to goad everyone into admitting where they are!! :nono:

Yeah I can see it! I guess alot of people just don't have their location showing...

It would be nice to know where people are so I know what time zone they are in...especially for swaps/vbbs etc.

Oh but my own location doesn't show up for me...I guess seeing as I know where I am that is ok...but I wonder if others can see it?

Nope. I don't see it! Go to "my controls" and "edit profile information". Make sure you've listed it there.

In my profile it says 'Vienna, Austria'. Always has done...so I have no idea why you can't see it...I can't see yours either!

Just checking to see if I can see min. I can not see Ambers or Potok's either.

Mine is not in my profile because I tried to change my profile and it wouldn't let me, but it erased what I had in my profile so when I look on my "edit profile" there is nothing there -- BUT my location, which is no longer listed in my profile, still shows up :shrug:

Cheesy, if yours isn't showing after you update your signature, then go into the Edit your profile area and click on the Amend my profile button (even if you didn't make any changes). This should force it to pick it up.

That must be what happened to mine. My sig's the only thing I've been changing... and then suddenly my location was done.

It might be worth even putting this into the swap faq, since it was the swap that set me to messing around with my sig! :wacko:

Every time I update my signature, the location goes away. I have to then go back into my profile & activate it again.
