Title: Happiness Day Opening Thread!!
Description: Reveal all...

VeganMedusa - August 7, 2007 12:07 PM (GMT)
Since I was silly and opened my parcel weeks ago, :bash: I thought at least I can be the first on Happiness Day (12.05am) to wish everyone a happy day. I'm looking forward to seeing all the goodies. I pledge not to open a single parcel till Halloween Opening Day.

Thank you Antheras, for the book Her Mother's Daughter by Marilyn French. It'll be something to sink my teeth into. When I register it I'll give you the BCID so you can trace it, if you like.

VeganMedusa, how did you end up opening so early? Was your package not marked properly?

SimplyCee - August 7, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
She's ahead of us, time wise. When I saw this, I got really excited. I'm thinking "maybe it was the 7th and not the 8th and I can open now!!!" But alas, those of us on EST still have half a day to go.

AlterEgoZoe - August 7, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
I can't wait! Post pictures please!!

I'm holding out until tomorrow before work. Wednesdays are always the worst so it'll be a bright spot before I go in.

My time!!!
OK as usual I’ll edit this post while I’m opening my HD parcels.
First I’d like to thank AEZoe for organizing this Exchange :)

I’m taking scissors and waiting for …… midnight!

[00.00]
I’m making one cut so that I could pull out lovely card From the expert in fashion
One of the tips says … make sure your bra fits correctly… No prob sis!

Inside the card is such a cute bookmark in the shape of the bottle (now it shouldn’t be hard to guess sender’s origin )
And the message (you know me. I will certainly NOT reveal my partner at the very beginning :neener:). Oh the message ... um ... I’ll send private message after all.

[00.10]
Pulling out :yum: yummy Chocolate! But look what it says: Cocoa and piquant spices is a combination from the Aztec era, which really works
This is Organic Dark 72% with Chilli & Pink Peppercorns. Something I’d definitively LOVE (Hotel Chocolat). Gosh it’ll be problem to find out something like that here (I think it’s finally time to start visiting Chocolate department in supermarkets, places I always skip. Maybe they have something bitter-spicy-candy)

[00.14]
Now the Book!
 OK this is little scary ... If someone is not familiar with the plot of The Testament of Gideon Mack by James Robertson Here it is:
this is fictionalized true story about Mr. Mack and his meeting (and etc) with the Devil. Now this is book I received in May Day exchange, also this is book I received from unknown sender week or two ago and this is book I’m finding in my Happiness Day Parcel ... in the past midnight ... OK My HD partner is playing with me :whip:
(oh gosh you saw my question about mysterious sender, haven't you?)

Another Book … slowly putting my hand and slowly opening my eyes to see it’s back cover which says: is the 21st Century the golden age of the Orgasm? … Margolis’ book is rich in delicious accounts of the orgasms of the great and good, past and present. – EROTIC REVIEW :yum: I already like it… (definitively it has everything with the first one ) Now turning it to see

O: The Intimate History of the Orgasm by Jonathan Margolis

I never heard about this book but surprisingly  I must say Perfect choice my dear Happy Maker, perfect indeed …

[00.34]
Parcel Number 2: putting my hand in it and there are two books... first one ... Oh Lovely! I was just looking this book today on BM and how I missed it. It’s

Mother’s Milk by Edward St Aubyn

user posted image

Gosh this is great pick! Of course I’m book snob so Booker is my measure

[00.43]
Oh there is a card. So this come first: Oh NO. Just as I thought … You saw my post about Gideon Mack … no, no I am sorry for not keeping my mouth shut. You are so wonderful for sending another parcel  If I only knew …

[00.47]
Book ... AAAAAaaaaaa!!!!!!! I pulled it out of the envelope only few centimeters but I’m recognizing cover art. Gosh you are SO magnificent and everything (um … of course you are magnificent all the time but you’ve made me so happy!!!!!). OK the cover is yellowish and goldish and it shows tree branches … and then it’s yellow … and yellow … and then it says Praise for The Kite Runner … and then I’m turning front page of this lovely hardcover:

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

WOW I reacted as if there’s something with the book #2 ...

[00.56]
OK now who is my wonderful partner?
Once again I’m sorry for causing you problems ... I really am sorry.
So what you wrote in your first card really ... my dear camis you’ve made me this Happiness Day so, so happy indeed and I can’t thank you enough.
[00.58]
Passing the torch.
It's time for Ukers if they aren't too sleepy.

Note to self: Read Milan's opening posts AFTER he's written the whole thing. Otherwise you will go out of your mind with anticipation.

argh-I left my package at home and I'm staying at my parent's tonight. I'll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon!

It's 6:30PM EST. 5 1/2 hours left for us US East Coast folks!

akashafamily - August 7, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
Okay, I'm back. I have been very spoilt by my partner.

My package included:

2 bars of Bali Soap (Sandalwood and Frangipani scented)
A bag of Everescent Bath Salts

Stickers for scrapbooking

A Kiwi Pewter Bookmark

A Lake Matheson magnet

1 pkt of New Zealand Hibiscus seed (I think there was supposed to be another packet of seed but Australia Customs liked them and confiscated them. I can have them sent back to the sender at a price of $47)

Smarties fun pack with 14 small packets inside
A box of Pebbles (I've never seen these before)
A block of Toasted Almond Dark Chocolate
A Pineapple Lumps bar (the kids liked the look of this one)

Not one but 5 books, 4 of which are wishlist books.
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
Painting Mona Lisa by Jeanne Kalogridis
Through my Eyes by Lindy Chamberlain
The Secret Supper by Javier Sierra
So Many Books, So Little Time by Sara Nelson

Thank you so much very much VeganMedusa

I'm sure you really want to have them sent back to her at that bargain price. :giggle:

I guess the New Zealand Hibiscus must be indiginous to Australia (or already firmly entrenched at any rate) or they wouldn't have let you send those over either. Seeds & plants are difficult to be allowed to send between countries... particularly island countries or across bodies of water.

Wow, Milan, I don't think I've ever watched you open "live" before. :giggle:

That was kinda exhausting. Patience is not my strong suit, in case you hadn't noticed.

I think I'm going to go nap so I'll be wide awake in 5 hours to open my parcels.

Yikes!
The other one was a packet of NZ Lupins, so obviously they didn't like those ones (or the customs person stole them for their own garden?).
I asked at the garden centre and they thought as long as they were commercially-treated sealed seed packets, they should be fine. Obviously not.

And you've never seen Pebbles?? I thought for sure they'd be in Australia too.

Glad you like your parcel, I had heaps of fun doing it. Thanks for not sending the seeds back to me!

I'll be opening my present tomorrow morning b/c I don't think I can stay up until 12
