Title: Pick my next two books!
Description: What sounds good?

Ixion - August 4, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
I've got mountains of books (ok, some of you out there beat me in this category, but since I've only got my bedroom,it seems like too many). I've sort of been on a reading hiatus for a year now, although I recently finished HP7 and Lean Mean Thirteen. In fact, I think the last books I read before then was during Jury Duty... that was June 2006!

So I need to know, what's next? :peek:

Loads of good choices there - DOn't really think you'll go far wrong with any of them!

I picked A Walk in The Woods, which made me hoot with laughter and Neverwhere cos I have in beckoning in my own TBr'S :D

EllyMae58 - August 4, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
I picked the fun light reads - Undead and Unpopular and the Princess Diaries. :)

PepperVL - August 4, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
I voted for Lost in a Good Book, because I just adore the Thursday Next books, and Neverwhere because Neil Gaiman is just incredible.

However, I can also say that you won't go wrong with:

Undead & Unpopular - light and fun
Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold! - great light, humorous fantasy
Any of the Bill Brysons - he's always a delight
And though Fluke is my least favorite of Christopher Moore's books and I wouldn't recommend it if you've never read him before, if you have read some of his other books, I'd say go for it as well.

Hmmm, I have read Island of the Sequined Love Nun, Practical Demonkeeping and Bloodsucking Fiends. You think Fluke ranked below those? I might postpone that one then because I really wasn't crazy about Love Nun.

I definitely liked Love Nun better than Fluke.

Most of Moore's humor is wacky... there are parts of Fluke that are just... beyond that and in a lot of people's opinions (mine included) are just WAY too out there.

Neil Gaiman is fun no matter what (and neverwhere is just bloody awesome...check out the BBC version of it when you're done if you can).

Jasper Fforde is awesome too. I just got the last book finally and can't wait for the fifth one!!

I liked Fluke! I haven't read Love Nun yet though
( I have read Practical Demon Keeping, Coyote Blue & The Stupidest Angel and would rate Fluke on a par with the others...Horses for courses I guess :D )

Hi Ixion ~

Nice line up  I voted for A Walk in the Woods, one of the funniest books I've ever read. Love all of Bryson's writing.

And Jasper Fforde is awesome, too!

Breeze - August 5, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Jasper Fforde or Louise Rennison!

Ixion - August 5, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
It seems pretty clear who the top 4 or so are, they're pulling away from the rest of the options. So far it seems like Neverwhere and Lost in a Good book are winning. I might end up leaving up to which ever one I'm able to locate first in the rumble.

Ooh, a "what should I read" poll where I'm familiar with most of the books!

It's a good group. I voted for The Princess Diaries 'cos I've been having a good time reading some Meg Cabot stuff this month, but it doesn't look like you could go wrong with any of them!

AlterEgoZoe - August 7, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
I voted for Neverwhere. I loved that book!! I read it in like a week!

daughterofcokie - August 7, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
I voted for Princess Diaries because I'm reading it now myself and would love to find out your thoughts about it. Its really awesome. (Much better than the movie although I do so adore Anne Hathaway.)

Ixion - August 11, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm gonna consider this round of voting closed (although feel free to check out the results if you haven't already).

It's Neverwhere in first with a FOUR way tie for second with Princess Diaries, Lost in a good book, Undead and Unpopular and A Walk in the Woods.

This is enough books to take me through the summer and into the fall.

Thanks for all the help guys in making my choices easier!
