Title: Bookring Graveyard
Description: Is there such a thing?

Amberkatze - August 3, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
I just spent the last half an hour checking up on my Bookrings. I am really  !!!

So many are missing...no journals...no release notes...ignoring my pm's etc!!! It is really frustrating.

I never send out any books that I know I can't replace or don't mind never seeing again but I can't believe that so many are awol...some of the awol books are replacements for previous awol rings!!!

So I guess I will be making a 'Bookring Graveyard' on my bookshelf. Does anyone else have one of these??

There is a book graveyard shelf in BC that you can release your dead books to ....

give me a minute and I'll see if I can find a link

Here's the most recent thread about it, including a link:

BookCrossing Cemetary & Undertaker

Although 1) I'm not sure how it works exactly and if it's still active and
2) It's not just for bookrings

You might want to try Lost Book Island instead...since lost bookrings/rays can and do surface unexpectedly sometimes. Earlier this year one ring I'd joined was suddenly reactivated after being in limbo for a year...and it was the original copy of the book, too. You never know.

I've used the Lost Book Island myself too, and know that it's still active, so I'd recommend this one too.

:ditto:

I agree, LostBookIsland is the way to go!

I do keep a small section on my profile where my two stalled/lost rays are linked. Luckily, my active ray section is much larger.

I would also use LBI instead of Book Cemetary only b/c I think B. Cem. is for books that have been destroyed in some way and LBI is for books that are just lost/stalled.

Thank you guys! I think I will add my books to the lostbookisland. I don't like leaving them travelling under my name which most of them are now...I tried making journal enteries in the hope that the last person would move the book along....and also to make sure that the others in the ring knew what had happened to the book.

I got quite a few pm's back from people today about rings...so hopefully some will move on now. Just hard to know when I am not getting any Journal entery notifications.

Sheesh....I have a ton of books I need to add there. Probably three quarters (if not more) of my traveling books.

I gave up on tracking my bookrays ages ago. A couple were stalled with the same person. The rest are God-only-knows-where.
