Title: 2007 "You're Such an Animal" release challenge
Description: who else is playing?
appaloosatb - August 1, 2007 08:16 PM (GMT)
Link to the sign-up threadI'm already starting to collect books. *happy dances* This is my very favorite release challenge! :yahoo:
nwpassage - August 1, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)
OK, I signed up... this is only my second release challenge ever, but I want to get into wild releasing a little more, so this is probably as good start! :)
Daelith - August 2, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
I've joined. I saw some on my available shelf I could use.
Are there any labels and cover stickers we can download from somewhere? I asked this at BC too, but thought I might get a reply here faster.
AlterEgoZoe - August 2, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
I don't know if I should. I just got a bunch of books with animals in the title..
JessicaEby - August 2, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
I don't think I could come up with enough books, myself, but good luck to the rest of you! It does sound fun.

I'm working on special labels now. Give me a few days and they should be ready. :)
Tribefan - August 3, 2007 12:21 PM (GMT)
Of course I'm in... I've got two boxes of animal books that I've been collecting!
Daelith - August 3, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
I've scrounged up about a dozen books I can use with some type of animal in the title...though the books aren't about animals. Think I'll hit up my local BCers at the next meeting for animal titled books.

I found all the books but 3.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
The Rebellion of Yale Marratt
I threw in The Reptile Room by Lemony Snickett though.
AlterEgoZoe - August 9, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
I finally signed up. I found dozens I can use, and lots in my unregistered TBR pile.
Now I'll have to find places to release them.
ramson - August 10, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
I am seriously considering participating. I don't think I have wild released anything in a few years. I have a few animal titles in on my shelf (helps that devil counts as an animal word.) If I can get to the UBS or thrift store and pick up some more titles I will join.
terrafreaky - August 10, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)
xallroyx - August 10, 2007 02:04 PM (GMT)
I was going to do last year, but I never got totally in gear. I have books I saved from than and now going through newer ones!!

I finally mailed out the books today. I do hope we get some good catches Appa. :D
JessicaEby - August 11, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
I know I said I couldn't do this... but I've been stressed out and depressed for the past few days, and wild releasing tends to help with those things.... soooooo.... I've bought a few animal books anyway  I figure that if I don't get enough for it, I can always save them for next year or otherwise bookcross them.... right?
I bought 4 books at Value Village, so I got another one free.... all have animals in the titles! But, sadly (for me and my release collecting) the free one must be used for something else...

Does anyone have an full version of Adobe? I thought it would be nice to have some outside labels for our books to with the graphic nwpassage posted to use in our journal entries. Found one label someone made here --
http://www.rinaldiweb.it/eurobc/stuffs/BC-...s-lightwavz.pdf and thought it would be good to just change out the picture. I only have Adobe Reader though.
I do have some made through word, but I'm not thrilled with them.
JessicaEby - August 17, 2007 12:53 AM (GMT)
I am confused about this challenge.... cause on the sign-up thread it says to release 20 books.... but I posted to ask if there's a date by which you need to sign up, cause I'm trying to determine whether or not I'll have enough.... but then someone said you can do it even if you just have 1... does anyone know?
AlterEgoZoe - August 17, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
I think you can sign up anytime, even during the challenge. I would ask Secretariat or someone who has done the challenge before (this is my first year too so I don't know either)

The goal is to release 20 books, but even if you can only release one that's still okay. The fun of the challenge is just the togetherness of all releasing books together and watching other people (and hopefully yourself!) getting catches. :)
JessicaEby - August 18, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys, I will go sign up then. I am up to....8 now. Mostly kids books. It's not that many.... but it's a start!
Daelith - September 1, 2007 01:35 PM (GMT)
We can start releasing books now! :yahoo:
Now I just need to decide if I need to go anywhere today so that I can.
