I've just finished The Virgin Suicides, although I very nearly gave up and I did resort to skimming the last half just in case anything interesting happened. I'm a bit disapointed as I'd been looking forward to finally reading it.

Is it just me missing a literary marvel or was it pants?? :P

I liked it, although I thought it was one of the most depressing things I've ever read. I had already seen the movie, so I knew what to expect.

I liked it too, though as Kel says, not a cheerful read!

well... I read part of it and din't like it enough to continue... and I have heard plenty of good things about it.

I didn't find it particularly depressing.... it just bored me half to death. I think though because it didn't engage me I didn't pay enough attention while reading..does that make sense?

I finished it, but had a hard time, too. Overall, I didn't like it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I pushed myself to read it because it was part of a ring/ray and it was something I'd had on my wishlist for quite some time. I

I JUST finished listening to this today. It was so bland and boring that suicide was definitely an option after being subjected to listening to it for so long. :ill: Seriously, I thought it was pointless. There was no one in the story that you really got to know or understand and I didn't care about any of the characters. The ramblings were often pointless. I can't say that your reviews didn't warn me though.

Hm... I've never read it. I've heard lots of good about it, and since I saw the movie a few years ago, I've wanted to read it.... now I'm afraid!
