Welcome to Round 10 of the Teen Virtual Fiction Bookbox!

Turn Time Limit Rules: (Shamelessly stolen from the Paranormal BB)

1. Turn time is 2 full days, so 48 hours from the time the update listing the player's turn is posted.
2. If two days is a problem for you (i.e. you can't get online during the weekends, or will be on a trip, etc.) please let me know so that I can put a note by your name and allow you extra time.
3. If the full 48 hours has passed with no word from the player, the next player will go, and the missing player will be moved down 1 space. We will do this 3 times, but without the 2 day time limit each time. A player skipped in this way will only have the time it takes for the next three people to take their turns to check in before being dropped to the bottom of the list (this is all if we have not heard from the player). It will look like this: 2 days, skip, skip, skip, bottom. If a player is skipped in this way and/or placed at the bottom, that spot will become their new permanent spot until the list is reshuffled.
4. The Box Organizer will be the time keeper and determine a skip or bottom placement.
5. New players will be accepted during play and added to the bottom of the list.

On Your Turn:

1. Select the number of books that you want to take out of the box and list them in your post.
2. Replace those with the same number of books (or more if you like) and link to the journal entries for your book(s).
3. If any of your books have "**" in front of them, you MUST replace them when your turn comes up.
4. If you decide to skip, you have the option to ask to be placed at the bottom of the list for another try. If you do this, that will become your new permanent spot until the list is reshuffled. (Reshuffling will happen after every 3 rounds.)
5. At the end of your turn, please PM the next person on the list.

If any books have 2 ** by them, please replace them on your turn!

I think you should ask her once and for all if she wants to be in this and if so, she needs to start watching for her turn.

This happens every time it's her turn, she gets PMd and then gets bumped and then we have to wait around when it's her turn again.

It seems she's not around here that much, and when she pops in for her turn she just seems to pass, doesn't she? :unsure: Not trying to be bitchy or anything, but it doesn't appear that she's very interested in being a part of this.

Well I think that the fact that she never showed or played in either the teen VBB or the Mystery VBB (the only 2 VBBs that I see her in) last month and she has not been on site since July 16th combined with the fact that she is well over a year behind on shipping owed books from both boxes speaks for itself.

My personal opinion, she should be removed from the boxes until she comes back and states that she in fact wants to be in them. I see no reason whatsover to hold this box for what will be 4 days waiting for her to appear when she never appeared and played at all last round.

Oh, if she hasn't shown up at all, then I'm inclined to agree with Wendy. I don't keep close track of everyone, I just knew it seems she was always getting bumped and if she did show she was passing.

She's a year behind in shipping books? Yikes! :yikes:

I think we should bump her to the bottom. I hope that doesn't sound mean but I don't want to wait forever (which makes me sound hypocritical because lately I have been bumped down because I wasn't around; in my defense tho I had no comp)

Last time I saw her post, it looked to me like real life had her pretty busy. I would say if she doesn't have any books left, she probably wouldn't mind being dropped until such time as she comes back and wants back in. She didn't get to meet up with us in Ohio either, so I think she's got other things taking precedence for the moment, as do we all at times.

I agree that Jebbie should be dropped to the bottom. She hasn't been showing up lately and it doesn't seem like she has the time/desire/both to participate at the moment.

However... since she's been PM'ed, perhaps if she does show up, we could bump her back up to whatever spot we're at when she shows up? That way she doesn't get a PM and then we tell her, "well, sorry, never mind," but the rest of us don't have to wait when we don't think she'll show up soon anyway...

I think we should all take a look at Fantasy's thread regarding similar questions. I like the idea of her "4 rounds" rule on not taking any books out if you still owe books.

It doesn't matter if we wait or not...the books I want will be gone by the time it is my turn :giggle:

I'm probably on the :nono: list of I owe a million freakin' books and I need to be better at mailing. :blush:

Some of y'all know, but I would guess most don't. I'm dropping out of the boxes and stuff for awhile. I've got some real life going on and I'm having a hard time mailing books. Part if it is the "I said I would read this first, but I haven't gotten my butt and read them yet" bad me! :whip: Another is partly money, but the main thing now is the "my mommy won't let me mail books, so I have to sneak them out of the house so she doesn't know I'm still sending books on" :giggle:

What I'll probably end up doing (and have so far on 2) is having them sent from other places like PBS or amazon or ebay or something. That way I'm not mailing the book. :giggle:

I'm pretty much going to stay and get my books all replaced, then drop, then come back in when I can.

Now, haven't said that... let me go into this.... I know.. drama, drama, drama :rolleyes:
I want y'all to know that I'm not going to get upset by this at all, either way is fine by me. Because I won't be "in" the box do y'all still want me to host it? If not, that's no biggie, I understand. If yes, I'll still be happy to do it.

Let me know what y'all think about putting in those rules, and if y'all would like me to step down.

Ok.. I've also done a bit of messing around.

In theory.. when it is your turn, your name and your "need to replace" books should be a the top of the list, making it easier.

I've also knicked Jebby... but if she shows up, and would like to be put back in I'm gonna put her back in... I figured this way it's a bit more fair to us all.

Feel free to chime in on the rule thing or anything else you might like to see added or taken away from the rules/way things are done, etc.

Ok, hope I did everything right! IF not someone please correct and then tell me so hopefully, I won't make the same mistake next time. :wacko:

Obviously, since I was the first to institute it in my VBB, I have no objections whatsoever to the "must be mailed in so many months/rounds" rule.

I will ask, however, that you give us at least 6 months to get the books out. Any less than that and it can get difficult, particularly for those of us who offer TBRs or who are in a lot of boxes or swaps. :shrug:

And I'd be happy to have you administer still. :D Or I can if you'd like...

I'm fine with the mailing rule, though I agree with Pepper about extending it to 6 months to account for TBRs. I'm fine with you running the box, but, maybe it's me, but I still don't have a clear answer on when this box is supposed to start. Also, my only concern with you running the box while possibly reducing your time here is that you may not be around enough to keep things moving as smoothly as they could be. I think it would be frustrating, for example, to wait 48 hours to have no one show up, then also have to wait for the box "owner" to show up to give the okay on bumping that person down. God knows I'm not always here, especially during the semester, but it makes me feel bad when things are getting held up because it took me a day or two to make it back here, just to bump someone.

Love the way the box is set up, my only complaint would be that by dividing the books that need to be replaced by person almost makes it seem like those books are no longer available to be taken out. Does that make sense?

As for your running the box still NMZ, sounds good to me, as long as you are around on a regular basis during the duration of the box each month, or you leave a few folks who can make decisions about situations like fantasy pointed out, in your absence. That way there would not be long hold ups waiting on decisions to be made.

Welcome to Round 10 of the Teen Virtual Fiction Bookbox!

Turn Time Limit Rules: (Shamelessly stolen from the Paranormal BB)

1. Turn time is 2 full days, so 48 hours from the time the update listing the player's turn is posted.
2. If two days is a problem for you (i.e. you can't get online during the weekends, or will be on a trip, etc.) please let me know so that I can put a note by your name and allow you extra time.
3. If the full 48 hours has passed with no word from the player, the next player will go, and the missing player will be moved down 1 space. We will do this 3 times, but without the 2 day time limit each time. A player skipped in this way will only have the time it takes for the next three people to take their turns to check in before being dropped to the bottom of the list (this is all if we have not heard from the player). It will look like this: 2 days, skip, skip, skip, bottom. If a player is skipped in this way and/or placed at the bottom, that spot will become their new permanent spot until the list is reshuffled.
4. The Box Organizer will be the time keeper and determine a skip or bottom placement.
5. New players will be accepted during play and added to the bottom of the list.

On Your Turn:

1. Select the number of books that you want to take out of the box and list them in your post.
2. Replace those with the same number of books (or more if you like) and link to the journal entries for your book(s).
3. If any of your books have "**" in front of them, you MUST replace them when your turn comes up.
4. If you decide to skip, you have the option to ask to be placed at the bottom of the list for another try. If you do this, that will become your new permanent spot until the list is reshuffled. (Reshuffling will happen after every 3 rounds.)
5. At the end of your turn, please PM the next person on the list.

If any books have 2 ** by them, please replace them on your turn!

Teen Books out of Play Thread

It starts on the first of the month now. I did a poll awhile back and the first of the month won. I did start a little early this month, but "time" hasn't started until, well today.

I also added it to the calendar here, so it shows up every 1st of the month.

OH.. the bump thing.. yeah, I can see where that would be a pain in the butt. If someone hasn't shown up in the 48 hours please don't feel you have to wait on me to bump them. For example, say daughterofcokie comes into the box and sees that it's my turn, but I haven't made my move and it's been my turn for say 50 hours, she can bump me and take her turn.

Does that sound fair?


I also found out yesterday I might have a lot more free time on my hands... unless my boss can find some department who needs/has the budget for me, Friday will be my last day.

OH no. That does not sound good, will keep fingers crossed that they find something for you. :hug:

I hope so too, but um actually I'll be under my old unemployment claim and so I'll make more money than I'm making now :giggle:

And I'll be able to get J on medicade, and since Dad doesn't have a job, and mom can't work, the only income will be dad's unemployment (when his gets processed), then mine, and dad's social security.. so I'll be able to get WIC/food stamps. Not that we "need" it, but hell, why not!

I'm just looking at the positive side of it... J will have better health care, and we'll get help with the food bill.. and I'll get to spend even more time with J.
