Title: Donna Tartt Books?
Description: Let me know what you think

I'm listening to "The Secret History" read by Tartt herself and it's absolutely wonderful!
At around 20 hours, it's definitely heavy, but the story is so well phrased that I really like it.
Does anyone know what type of timeframe we're looking at? It seems like present time at some points, then about 20 years ago at others.
Has anyone read this or the other book by Tartt (The Little Friend)? What do you think? I have a copy of The Little Friend and definitely want to clear some time to enjoy it, but I just wanted to hear about what others are thinking.... And I wanted to share how much I really like "The Secret History."

I "read" The Little Friend (I had an abridged audio book read by the author) and really enjoyed it (though, of course, I wish it had been unabridged)
Since then I got a copy of The Secret History through BookMooch, but I haven't read it yet.

I read The Secret History some time last year because it was on the BBC Top 100. I really enjoyed it!!
I can't remember the details to answer you question though
The Little Friend is on my TBR

Thank you very much for your replies. I actually did some research into Donna Tartt and it appears she wrote "The Secret History" right around college, and that the university was based on her college, loosely.
She graduated college in the 80s, so I'm thinking that's the timeframe, though I think I remember a few little things that made me wonder.
Thank you all very much, I'll be sure to let you know when I actually sit down and read 'the little friend.'

We read The Secret History for our book group recently, and I think we concurred that it was set in the 1980s, though it really wasn't clear in some parts of the story.
I really enjoyed it, I had read it before and was pleased to be "made" to read it again.
I have a copy of The Little Friend that I have yet to read, but comments about it from another group member have put me off a bit.
