Title: I need some ideas for vacation reads....
Description: Leaving next week.

I need to find two good books to bring with me for reading on the train on my cross country trip... To give a fun twist to this, I am going to offer a RABCK to the person/s that pick the books I bring with me. :) However, the book I bring probably won't be the RABCK because if I finish the book on the trip, I will leave it somewhere along the way! :giggle:

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. It is an incredible book, great fun... and light enough that you can read it on vacation. My copy is PC'ed and I'm not even going to attempt to get it's sequel, Inkspell, via BC, because I know I'm going to want it for my PC.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. Absolutely hilarious series... great fun to read, and also light enough to be a good vacation read. I actually listened to the audio of it on a long drive by myself (9 hours) and it was WONDERFUL for that. :D

Hmmm... well, let's see your TBR list...

Holy Fools might be interesting. I'm listening to it now, and from the setting and just the feel of the book, it might be a good one for a train ride.

If you want something you can pick up and put down, that Angus, Thongs and Full... would be great! I loved those books, they were so freaking silly.

All of those books you two mentioned sound great... But only one of those books is of a smaller size... (I won't be lugging around this beautiful big hardback copy of Inkheart! :D) One For the Money sounds good, but would I want to hold on to that one while reading others in the series later on down the road?

Probably not -- the relationships among the people progress a bit book-to-book, but the bounty-hunting storylines are all self-contained. No need to take notes -- Ms. Plum is brain candy.

Just to warn you, a lot of people think the first and second books are only so-so. It's worth hanging on for the rest later! And I agree that they are fab-u-lous audios!!

Ooh! I see you have Beauty TBR! I  that one! My favorite fairytale retelling ever! I first read that when I was 12 or 13, and I don't know how many times I reread it as a teenager.

Or I'd also vote for Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye. I was surprised by how cute that turned out to be! Easy, fun, and light to carry.

Let's see...

Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon is good.

Just Like Heaven is a really quick read.

I've never hung onto any of the Evanovich books to reference again, but I'm also lazy about that type of thing too.

Match Made in Heaven is the right size to take with you. :D

Oh!! You Have Mike, Mike, and Me on TBR!!!! I REALLY liked that book!! That would be my first choice of the ones I've read.

My picks are:

Peter Pan - read the orginal this year for the first time. Loved it. You may want to add The Lost Girls to the wishlist. Its a continuation of sorts and was my favorite read of 2006.

Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging - Very quick and funny. If you include this in the books you bring you'll need to bring another one along as well as this is a very fast read.

Harry Potter & The Socerer's Stone - This will definately keep you entertained on a train ride and you know you'll have to read them sometime.

Honorable mentions go to Can You Keep A Secret and Catering To Nobody. The Goldilocks Catering Mysteries are one of my favorite series and I just adore everything by Sophie Kinsella.

I enjoyed Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris.
You Slay Me is a fun read.
Fantasy Lover - good, fast read too.
Killer Takes All - I like Erica Spindler, but have never read that one.
Florida Road Kill - Just sounds like a vacation type read.

I was going to suggest Killer Takes All too. I haven't read it yet, but a co-worker gave me her copy to read and told me I'd really like it.

I think you should read:

Memoirs of a Geisha, I really enjoyed that one
Harry Potter- I haven't read it either, I thought I was the only one here who hadn't.
The Next Accident, because I really like Lisa Gardner,
Dead Witch Walking, this was the first book I read in this genre, it got me hooked
Mike, Mike & me, Nice twist on romance
Welcome to Temptation-I love Jennifer Crusie!

P.S. Where is you trip to?

You going to meet up with Musie?

I just wanted to let you all know that I ended up bringing and reading Eden Close by Anita Shreve..I thought it was pretty good. I didn't have enough room to bring a large book, so that really narrowed it down.

Thank you all so much for all the suggestions!
