Lexie, looks like the randomizer wanted to give you a warm welcome too! Please feel free to start us off whenever you're ready... Who would you like to reveal? :flasher:
CheriePie - July 7, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Okay, we're all posted, and ready to start so I guess I better get my reveal prepared and sent out.
Obviously the randomizer was
not kind to poor Nou! Must've been that nudge to start early it didn't like! :whip:
However our newest member Lexie
is first. As a newcomer, this is probably actually the best position for her since her only valid move at this point is to reveal someone else. And from that point until she's robbed :pirate:, she can watch what we all do. However, since I'm not sure whether or not she's got the reveal thing and such down pat yet, she may want to watch the first couple of plays...
Lexie, whattdya think? Can you start us off, or shall I move you down a few spots?
We could always play a round or two of "Go to the Head of the Line"
and bring back Cherie some Cherries
 sometime tomorrow late afternoon or evening, and move the winners to the top 2 or 3 spots...
Lemme know what y'all think.
Amberkatze - July 7, 2007 12:01 PM (GMT)
Oooo!!! I am looking forward to this...when I get online on Monday it will be the first thing I check in on :D
PepperVL - July 7, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
Personally, I'm not a fan of the "go to the head of the line" games. I think that if Lexie wants to be bumped down a few spots, she should just be bumped down a few spots, and leave everyone else in the order they were assigned.
But that's just me.
lexilewords - July 7, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
I *think* i understand the mechanics of the game, so let's give it a shot...
I would like TEACHIE to reveal.
Lexie
CheriePie - July 7, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
I just bumped Lexie down and emailed Nan that she was first, based on reading Lexie's reply in the other thread that she didn't want to be first.
So I dunno... Lexie, you're here now, so I guess I could change it back, but since we are starting like a day early, I'd tend to look for people who have their reveal ready. Teachie is in the UK though so I suspect she should be checking in shortly, though someone may have to PM her.
lexilewords - July 7, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
o.o i'm sorry! um just delete my post then. i got a little hyper (i'm on cup 5 of tea...).

No don't worry about it. I'll switch it back, if someone can send a PM to teachie. Casey, since you're here and know what I mean, can you do that, letting her know we started early and her reveal is requested. She was the one asking if my Sunday was her Saturday so damn straight she better be ready! :shedevil:
Lexie, just make whatever move you wanna make. If you want teachie to reveal then put that back in. As I'm heading back in to edit the top post and then I'm going to bed to nap for a few hours. From that point on, future updates are done as the latest in the thread, not by updating the top-most one.
noumena12 - July 7, 2007 02:12 PM (GMT)
Yikes! For all of my talk of wanting to start...I still haven't picked out a book :lmao: Runs to look!

noumena12 - July 7, 2007 02:13 PM (GMT)
Damn Randomizer!!! It put me at the bottom! Oh and look, the newbie is first...we all know that means she will be robbed...ALOT!
Welcome Lexi!
CheriePie - July 7, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
Okay now I'm heading off to nap, added a few more peeps to send my reveal off to.

okay right my post is still on here but as I don't want to cause more confusion...I officially declare Teachie as the person I wish to reveal.
now excuse me while I find a way to get rid of all this tea hyper energy...

rebeccaljames - July 7, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
teachie's reveal:
Sleep Pale Sister by Joanne Harris
Synopsis
Henry Chester, a domineering and puritanical Victorian artist, is in search of the perfect model. In nine-year-old Effie he finds her. Ten years later, lovely, childlike and sedated, Effie seems the ideal wife. But something inside her is about to awaken. Drawn by her lover, Mose, into a dangerous underworld of intrigue and blackmail, she meets Fanny Miller, the brothel-keeper, and her shadowy daughter, Marta - murdered ten years ago on the day of Henry's weekly visit...And as friendship becomes possession and Henry's secret past is revealed, Effie and Marta plan their revenge together.
From Publishers WeeklyIn the first American release of her 1994 second novel,
Chocolat author Harris dives headlong into a ferocious Gothic ghost story. Henry Chester, the son of a stern Oxford minister and his unapproachable wife, develops an unhealthy interest in virginal young girls and a chloral habit after a life-altering experience during puberty. A gentleman artist of independent means, he disguises his unsavory sexual preference in his painting, frequenting lower class neighborhoods in search of models. On one trip, he encounters the hauntingly beautiful, fatherless Effie .She spends more and more time with Henry as model and protégé, and, despite a 23-year age difference, they marry when she's 17. Soon Effie becomes pregnant then miscarries. Though Henry keeps her drugged with laudanum, Effie eventually falls for Moses Harper, a rival painter and ne'er-do-well. Harper in turn introduces her to Fanny Miller, the occultist madam of a brothel that Henry frequents; she mothers the fragile Effie, and this trio cultivates a scheme to deal the despicable Henry a loaded hand. The pages fly by through multiple plot twists in a wash of drugs, ghosts and illicit sex in a tale that easily ranks among the best of the genre.

Well, it kinda sounds like Marta is a ghost. But when I looked it up on B&N that wasn't mentioned in the synopsis there, so...
I dunno. Maybe someone should PM Teachie?

Teachie's sig says she sent her PUF reveal to rebecca and shaunie and her YBS reveal to Breeze & Candy-is-dandy... so rebecca wouldn't have her YBS reveal, unless Teachie mixed them up.
teachie - July 7, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
Marta is a ghost who takes over Effie. If you are not happy with this book I can choose another one.
cheesygiraffe - July 7, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
Err if Marta is a ghost then nvm. Sorry.....
teachie - July 7, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
I have another book, The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder, which is an adult fairy story. Would that be better? I think that comes under urban fantasy.
rebeccaljames - July 7, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
I'm on my way to the post office. I should be back within an hour.
PepperVL - July 7, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
Um... Cherie's going to have to make that call, Teachie. Since one of the characters is a ghost, it fits the definition of paranormal... and I think that the objection was raised simply because that wasn't very clear in the synopsis.
CheriePie - July 7, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
Checking in.
I just went to check out Teachie's reveal at Amazon. Since the ghost is a major part of the storyline, that'd certainly make it this fit somewhere in the Paranormal genre. :D The Publishers Weekly blurb at Amazon makes it more obvious it's a ghost story so I'm going to paste that into the description here and the Revealed thread...
I had emailed Nan last night, but I've a feeling she's not going to be even checking in until later this evening so we'll see what happens. I've got some books to log and journal and I discovered that yes, I defitintely am the Sweeps weiner, so assuming we haven't seen Nan by early evening, I believe a round of Go to the Head of the Class will be in order for whomever's hanging around itching to go... and I've got enough time this time to come up with a great question. I sorta have the start of one in mind anyway, but need to make it more specific.
rebeccaljames - July 7, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
I'm going to take a nap. I'll be up in a couple of hours.
AlterEgoZoe - July 8, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)

I'm sorry everyone. I put my foot in my mouth about the book. I skimmed through the description and didn't see any mention of ghosts. I totally didn't notice it say her dead daugher.  I hope teachie doesn't want to shoot me now.

Me either but that's because I'm very anal when it comes to order. I'm very rigid about rules sometimes. I'm trying to be more flexible now that I've hosted quite a few swaps.

Well no because I thought that same thing when I read the synopsis. Then I saw the section that Cherie had added later and it makes it more clear. But without that I was thinking the same as you Cheesy.

I'm calling it a night. I'll check in in the morning.
teachie - July 8, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
As I said before I am happy to offer an urban Fantasy which is, Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder whoever gets mine has the choice of either book. This is a one off offer, I have never done this before and am unlikely to do it again!
