Title: M-bag #1 has arrived!!!

zzz - June 25, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
My first M-bag is here. :eat:
Zmrzlina sent it May 13th so I guess that as quite fast, right?

Thank you all for contribution (and I'm sorry for the same journal entries ).
However there are many books with unknown origin, I know what I purchased, bookmooched and I know for few RABCKs but even so there are more/less 10 books whose senders I don't know. Unless it's Zmrzlina (all books I know that she added are unlabeled).

:w00t2:

I'll add pic later

Not everything was smoothly indeed (stupid Murphy and his Law)
Guy in post office told me that custom service clerks think that I'll resale books and that's why I had to pay $20 tax. On declaration (report from custom service) I see they thought that the value of books is $100 (instead of $10 which Zmrzlina wrote) so maybe that is the catch. On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if they have done this purposely.
Tomorrow I'll call them to see if something can be done about it.

But never mind! I'm so happy it has arrived safe and sound (all books are in perfect condition).

I'm always so worried what value to write on customs forms, since I would hate for anyone to have to pay to get their books.

I spoke with custom clerk who dealt with my M-Bag and she explained me that the policy is to check prices on the books and to make their (subjective) estimated value of the parcel and not the one sender is writing on the customs declaration. So she saw few books with printed price of $20 and put the value of entire M-bag $100 which she said is the minimum value she had to take. I do think she didn't expect that I'll call and she admitted that it might be an error because she never thought about book sales and prices there; she was observing printed prices and that's it.
So it seems it's not wrongly read $10.
