Title: Introduce Yourself

cheesygiraffe - May 20, 2007 04:25 PM (GMT)
Come on in and tell us who you are. Newbies welcome and so are the lurkers who haven't posted before but have been :peek: on us. Even you oldies that haven't posted on this new forum but use to on the old forum. We miss you so come on back and get reacquainted.

SandDanz - May 20, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
*stands up*

Hi... I'm Sand & I'm a bookaholic!!!

*looks around*

Oh... I'm sorry, I thought this was the bookaholics anonymous thread where I was supposed to come introduce myself. :giggle:

P.S. I'm one of the admin for this site and hope that all oldtimers, newcomers, and lurkers enjoy their time here. So... pull up a recliner (or whatever is most comfortable), grab a good book, and have some laughs with the rest of us crazy book obsessed members. :D

P.P.S. Oh... and I can't go through posting in this introduction thread without giving everyone a proper introduction.

Lurkers :whip:

Newcomers :whip:

Old-Timers :whip: :whip: :whip:

Lady Livia - May 23, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
Okay, so I am meant to introduce myself here?
I always get nervous whenever posting on a new board, hoping that i don't post in the wrong area and have somebody tell me off.
So Hello. :waves:
My name is Loren, Livia is my alter ego, but you can call me either or whatever you wish, i may even reply to 'hey you!'
I'm from Australia and am at University, studying Ancient History and History in the hopes that somaday i shall be qualified to teach it.
If you see me, guarenteed four out of five times it will be with a book in my hand...and this may also be the reason that I shall have a very work filled weekend this weekend, I have three essays that i have been putting off doing so i can read some more... (Damn that Anne Bishop, making her books too good to put down!) *shakes fist* But i must put them down and do some work...alas!
Well, i feel I have rambled for long enough.
I look forward to meeting you all. :D

I'm Sheila and I'm Turtle's mom. Nothing really to tell about me but guess as you navigate through the different threads you will figure out who we are.

I'm sure you will fit right in :D

Welcome Livia! Nice to meet you. I'm cheesy one of the Admins here. If you ever have any questions don't be afraid to ask. :D Oh and here's a :whip: to really welcome you to group. You'll get a lot of those here.

morsecode - May 23, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
Hello, Livia! :waves: Welcome!

I'm Karen aka morsie (BC screenname morsecode). I live in Buffalo, NY, USA and hang out regularly with some of the Canadians on the site (Aceofhearts, HoserLauren, Antheras, chronicbooker, irenic, cestmoi).

I'm 27, happily married since July 2004, and "mom" to two crazy kitty-cats. I work an archivist in special collections at the university and do a lot of book reviewing. I also have a blog.

AceofHearts - May 23, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
:waves: Livia

I'm AceofHearts. I live in Mississauga near Toronto. I have far too many books but that is everyone's problem here

giz-angel - May 23, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
Hi Livia

I'm Giz and I live in London UK. I'm one of the mods here too :D and am all grouchy at the mo cos of giving up smoking  I'm 36 and a Housing worker in a prison. Oh and I've got a lot of books too ..... welcome to the site!

nwpassage - May 23, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
Howdy y'all! I'm Holly aka nwpassage, 28 year old software developer from northern BC, Canada. I live in sin with my 25 year old boyfriend Sterling aka Jemanu (who fixes ATMs for a living) and our two wonderful furbabies Bella & Bob (Sterling calls them cats, but what does he know?) We bought our first home last summer, so I guess we are "settled down" or something, especially since he says he is NOT moving all my books again!

:welcome: A big WELCOME to everyone and anyone who's new here! I'm not a mod or officially connected to this site in anyway, I'm just a regular joe (jane?) who spends way too much time here, but trust me this is a very friendly laid-back kind of place, so never be afraid to ask me or anyone else if you have any questions, we always want new folks to join our fun!

Group hug!!! :grouphug:

musie - May 29, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
I'm musie..aka Ali but musie is much easier to remember. I'm in the central time zone in the States.

I've got a great furkid aka a dog named Doc. I'm not telling you how old I am..I'm old and not living w/anyone but my dog. LOL

Umm the first thing you'll probably notice about me is my blondeness.

Hope we didn't scare Livia off by the whippings.

Sand :whip: Cheesy :whip:

eta: my bookcrossing and bookrelay name are americanmuse. I was pointed out that musie wasn't on cliff's wishlist.

Hi everyone!

I'm a lurking old-timer , so that means :whip: + :whip: :whip: :whip:
Right Sanddanz??

I'm 27 years old, born and living in Finland, Europe. Working on my PhD-thesis.

Several reasons why I'm a lurker at the moment. One reason is that I've started a blogg, which turned into a huge project and scary amount of readers. At the moment I'm doing something a bit different than reading books, I'm about midways of writing a book. Yup, that is what I've been doing while being away, besides dating as a newish single girl/woman

I go to local BC-meetings and try to wild release now and then. And lurke... :peek:

macdonv - June 1, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Helloooo!

I'm new this very hour. I was just looking for BookRelay and was very surprised to see that it's retired. Obviously, I wasn't very active there - my obsessions come in waves. Luckily, I was directed here, and now I can feed my book/trade/forum obsession. :P

I'm not very active on the BC Forums because I have a very low threshold for the drama and the trolls, and I can't help but click to read, and then I get all worked up. It's just easier if I avoid for the most part, I guess.

I'm also known as macdonv on BC.

I live in Windsor, Ontario, and work at Casino Windsor (Caesar's Windsor, come 2008), in Security. It pays the bills, and keeps me in books. :giggle:

Glad to meet you all!

Hello, I'm new as well and thought I'd make an introduction. I recently saw this site mentioned on the BC forums, which I don't frequent very often for some of the same reasons that macdonv mentions. After checking this site out, it seems much more user-friendly and friendly. I am intrigued by your swaps and hope to join in on one soon.

sejent is also my BC name

I look forward to getting to know everyone. :waves:

So, i promised Cherie that i'd step up and introduce myself. Of course, when i made this promise it was already getting light outside, though i hadn't gone to bed yet. She seems to know this is the best of times to talk me into things. Not that i didn't want to join, i did.....i just needed a little pushing, and a hard shove to do so. I belong to VLAD because of her as well, and i thank her for it.

I love to read, chat online and, with a little more practice and better wrist action, *whip* the naughty.

But, i admit upfront, and Cherie knows this better than anyone, that i am completely computer illiterate. I WILL make mistakes & i apologize in advance. Please, if i do something wrong, let me know and i'll try to behave *wink* better in the future.

I'm more than slightly computer shy, but once i get the hang of things and feel more comfortable, i'll join in more & more with the chats and games.

Well, they've done it.....

Through their combined efforts, Cherie & SandDanz have talked me into joining the rest of ya'll in Ohio come July.

Am i really that much of a push over, or do they have latent, mutant mental abilities? The latter i believe. All beware! :peek:

That's right, seems your stuck with me now. Tickets bought and all.

Gothamgal - June 14, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
Hello, I'm GothamGal (also known as Nicole) and I live in the exile of NE Ohio, having been born and raised in Southern California.

Anyway, I've lived here for a while, got my degree in Broadcast News from Kent State and I just moved into the house that I used to live next door to with my BF and a black lab mix and 2 kitty babies I adore.

I'm a member of the Rubber City Book Posse (Bookcrossing in and around Akron, Ohio) and I probably love to read more than anything else, except maybe writing. I've also done NaNoWriMo and Script Frenzy.

And for some weird reason, I LOVE this smilie:
:shedevil:

Anyway, thanks for letting me play. I look forward to looking at the site and learning a bit more about things. Especially about reveals, even after reading the FAQ I'm having a bit of a brain freeze there.
Anyway, give me a shout if you see anything you like on my shelf or maybe we can arrange a trade or something. Aghh, I'm rambling. Okay, well take care!

alcatraz2006 - June 14, 2007 07:01 PM (GMT)
Just thought i would lurk in and say hi to everyone new  . And girls how many times do i have to tell you, whips hurt hehe........

I thought i would post here seeing as i'm still considered a newbie as well. For those of you who don't know i'm Alcatraz aka Chris. And my step mom is the reason why i'm here, redhot-brat, she conviced me to join. I'm 19 and in college to get my degree in Accounting. Thats me in a nut shell.

Amberkatze - June 23, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
I just saw this thread and realised I never introduced myself! I think alot of people know me already through Bookcrossing, Bookmooch or Club Vlad (or all 3) but just for the ones who have no idea who I am....here goes!

My name is Amber and I am a book-o-holic.

I am 28 years old, born and raised Welsh (UK) but have been living in Vienna (Austria) for about 8 years now. If you want to know what the hell I am doing here and how I got here then let me know because if anymore people ask I think I will just write a book about it ;)

I love cats but haven't been able to have one since being in Austria. I work in a Kindergarten as an English Assistant and try and stay awake long enough in the evenings to read. I recently started a Bookblog so please come and visit and make some comments...it gets lonely over there sometimes :erm:

lexilewords - June 25, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
hi! my name is Lexie and...well books rule my world. Some books. Okay most any books rule my world...(and my room. seriously if my bf hadn't given me that extra space at his place I would still have no bed because it would still be buried underneath the boxes of books that I have no room for on my bookshelves...the same books that recently lived in towering piles on my floor and I finally had to organize since one pile knocked over and my sister twisted her ankle when it created a domino effect...)

I'm 23 years old, a Toddler teacher at Bright Horizons Child Development Center...and aside from novel-books I'm also obsessed with manga books, anime, asian dramas and sugar XD

I recently attended the Book Expo America in NYC at the beginning of June (my job is listed as 'educator') and aside from the tremendous amount of bruising to my poor shoulders (I put in the entire Expo in one day--9am to 5pm, no breaks, no rests...) I got to meet two of my favorite authors (Libba Bray and Shannon Hale) as well as pick up a few new ones!

Um...otherwise I live in New Jersey and...yeah. that's about it :D

Nice to meet you all!

Lexie

I do to go to cons...but I had to choose between Otakon or AnimeNext...and since a large group of us from LJ are going to Otakon I made that decision fairly quickly.

it sucks since I could just hop the train to AN, but the money isn't there (they are so close together!!!) you know?

If you went to the Masq at last year's Otakon, I was in the "A different Wonderland" skit (we won btw). I'll be the psycho in the Lion King, Cirque and Faury (shadow skill) outfits all weekend. I do intend on going to the masq again.

(hey, if you're ever on cosplay.com, look for my gallery my username is the same. maybe we can get together sometime!)
