I'm still waiting to hear from Ixion (she's been heaps busy) because I want mine to be sent soon :bananadance:

giz-angel - January 17, 2007 10:03 AM (GMT)
I *think* it took only 7 days to get here. How strange is THAT? Anyway I had a quick nose and started JE-ing this morning and I will finish off tonight. The LORD knows where I am going to put these books!

lmn60 - January 18, 2007 07:21 AM (GMT)
While we're chatting about M-bags......

What's the etiquette about asking for one?

I'm on the organising committee for the Australian Bookcrossing Convention to be held in Melbourne this year - and wondered if there'd be any of you interested in sending a few books 'down under' for the convention.

I don't want to offend anyone, though, or breach relay etiquette by asking if anyone would be willing to put one together for us Aussies attending the convention... :bash: .... but if you don't ask... you don't know!

OK... I"ll crawl away and hide now.... under my air conditioner (all this talk about cold weather in the US is hard to empathise with when we're having temperatures of about 100F every day!)

Cheers

Lynn

giz-angel - January 18, 2007 09:50 AM (GMT)
I'd be happy to send a few books Lynn but I can't do the M bag thing cos UK don't have them. PM me your addy and what sorta books you'd like? When is it? Cos I'm behind on mailing at the mo and it'd have to go surface......

What are the dates of the AU convention? There's about an 85 - 90% chance I will be down under in May of this year and can bring some in the old luggage with me and then mail them when I get there.

Guest - January 18, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
I'd be happy to send an M-bag for the convention. I'm not sure exactly how it works, as I've only sent books (and $) to the people doing the collecting on this end. But I'm sure I can figure it out if there's enough interest in people sending books.

Franci @ work - January 18, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
That was me ... offering to do an m-bag and then hiding my identity. Pretty sneaky, eh?

Guest - January 19, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
I have an open Mbag for Geegal... it's filling up pretty fast... I hope to mail it out in a month :)

Guest - January 19, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Grrr... that was me, Candy... I need to make a login here... LOL

lmn60 - January 19, 2007 07:47 AM (GMT)
Thanks for your replies to my cheeky question!

The convention will be held the weekend of October 5-7th here in Melbourne. If any of you are down this way at the time, you'd be greeted with open arms!

It's really kind of you to offer to help out Franci - we don't have m-bags (or even cheap postage  ) here in Australia - so I have no helpful thoughts about organising it!

Giz, anything you care to send surface would be gratefully received.

Ramson - any chance you'll be headed towards Melbourne? I'm sure the local bookcrossers would be happy to show you a good (or even a mediocre) time?!?

How about we exchange some PMs to sort out how to go about this? Or email me at

lynnneill (youknowwhatsymbol) hotmail.com

Thanks in advance

LYnn

giz-angel - January 19, 2007 09:43 AM (GMT)
emailed you Lynn :D

Ri - January 19, 2007 01:24 PM (GMT)
I just got a great pm from Helly saying that her m-bag has arrived safely! Horray! :bananadance: Look for JEs coming in the next several days!

Amberkatze - January 24, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
Thank you Ladiibbug for the wonderful Mbag that I picked up from the post office yesterday!!

I was too tired to get all the books journalled last night so I will do it now! Rianonne has asked me not to make journals for her books so if you sent books for her you may have to wait a little longer for a journal.

Thanks again Ladiibbug! I can't wait to fill the OBCZs shelves!

giz-angel - January 30, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
I did all my JE's and I still have no space for the books ;) so they are in a nice box on my bedroom floor. I think they are happy their. And the cat likes it :D

catsalive - January 31, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
FranciJo has offered to do an M-bag to Australia for me. What a fabulous idea. Now I'll be able to spend even more time building up MtTBR by trawling all the US or North America only rabcks, swaps, vbbs, etc.

O dear! Maybe I should have declined that generous offer.

That's 2 heading to Australia from FranciJo. Isn't she great?

lmn60 - February 1, 2007 04:27 AM (GMT)
I'll echo that, catsalive. The lovely FranciJo  will be putting together the M-bag for the Australian BC convention - to be held in Melbourne in October this year.

So... if any relayers would like their books released at the ABC - start gathering them together! :bananadance:

herbwench - February 2, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
I'm willing to do an M-Bag for someone. I've never gotten one together before so need to know what to do just in case the local PO has no idea what I'm talking about!

So, if anyone needs an M-bag coordinated for them, I'm available!

I've sent books to others for inclusion in M-bags before but didn't realize you were supposed to include $1 per book to help cover postage. Now I feel bad! I wish I known before. I'll have to look up who I sent those books to and get some money out to them!!!

And I will gladly send some books for inclusion in the M-Bag for the Australian Convention.

twiggywig - February 5, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
I would like to participate in sending some books for the Australian M-bag.
So, can someone please tell me what to do....?
Are there particular types of books preferred?
Where do I send said books?
I DID see the mention of money to help out postage.
...'Lay the info on me
twigg

lmn60 - February 15, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
Hi twiggywig and herbwench,

The M-bag details haven't been finalised yet - FranciJo is in the process of moving house, so I'm sure she'll post here, or start a new thread, when she's ready to accept books for the convention.

There's no particular type of books we'd like. Just select anything you'd like to see travel 'down under'!

Thanks for your generosity in advance!

I’d like to mooch some of my favourite books (if I found them available) for ABC as well and therefore a question:
I’ll not be able to send 1$ within the book since I’ll mooch from US book owner and ask him/her to send directly to FranciJo so I’m wondering would that be a problem?

I'm sure it's up to the mbag holder to decide in their particular case, but I can tell you that in the past, I've offered a wishlist book or two instead of the dollar...

zzz - February 18, 2007 09:31 AM (GMT)
I’ve done that too but it might search for a book(s) make harder; and points on BM might be a problem. Yes, I’ve considered that option (I’m asking 1$ help for my M-bag’s postage unless the book is RABCK of course) but thought it’s better to ask :)

FranciJo - February 26, 2007 02:02 PM (GMT)
Regarding the catsalive and Austrailian Convention M-Bags:

Thanks to all who have sent stuff so far. The boxes are starting to fill up! (So exciting!) If you have something to send right away, please do so quickly and send it to my address that's on Missy's favourites site (or PM me).

If you aren't going to send it for a while, you may want to wait a couple of weeks and send it to my new address. We're moving in mid-March, but we'll have access to both addresses until April 1 (that, and our incredibly cool postman, should cut down on media mail delivery problems). If you want to send something to the new address, it's the same as the old, except 212 instead of 313 for the house number. (Yes, we're moving across the street. And, yes, it's a huge pain! :P )

PM me if you have questions! Thanks!

catsalive - February 26, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Boy! You'll miss the old neighbourhood, FranciJo. :giggle:
