Title: ISO: Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore

HoserLauren - January 17, 2007 04:42 AM (GMT)
I've been told by a couple of people to read the Christopher Moore books in order, so that's what I'm trying to do. Turns out that I have a good majority of them except the first 2! lol

Anyways, I've just finished the first (after I went out and bought it), but I don't really feel like buying the second one, Coyote Blue.

Would anyone like to trade me Coyote Blue for their choice of any book off my AVL/TBR?

NOTE: I WILL NOT ACCEPT A RABCK!! :P I NEED TO GET BOOKS OUT OF MY HOUSE AND YOU WILL TAKE A BOOK FROM ME WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. So there

PepperVL - January 17, 2007 04:50 AM (GMT)
Ohhh...I think I'll read that now since I just finised my book. I love Christopher Moore.

You may absolutely not have this copy when I'm done, though, because you want to give me a book and I don't want one.

So there.

I have Coyote Blue TBR too  But I don't want any books either!
Hubby like Christopher Moore though and I don't think he has read Practical DemonKeeping. I have though, so it wouldn't count as more books for me would it?

lizziwhizz - January 17, 2007 11:13 AM (GMT)
I've got Coyote Blue, lauren, somewhere around here. I haven't read it yet but my sister owns it also so I can just borrow it from her when I get in a mood to read it. I read several of his last year all at once and I overdosed a bit--haven't quite recovered yet!
I'll take a peek at your avl list during my free period at school today and get back to you. Talk to you soon!

SandDanz - January 17, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
sounds like it's time for everyone to send Lauren RABCKs! :ph43r:

I've got her address somewhere if anyone needs it!

 :P

needmorezoloft - January 17, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
I kinda feel like an idiot now! :bash:

I wasn't reading the Christopher Moore books because I was boycotting him. Turns out I was getting him mixed up with that dude... um.. I think he made some Columbine movie and that 9-11 movie and made some anti-war remark on some awards show... what is that dudes name... um.. MICHAEL MOORE.. that's it! (I had to look it up online)

Anyway.. so I wasn't reading those books because.. well I'm just blonde sometimes :bash:

So, I'm glad I found this thread... and that I ended up stealing one of his books in the 2006 swap... so now I know to read the books in order!

I don't care who a book goes to as long as it gets out of my house

Would you like me to send your hubby Practical Demonkeeping in exchange for Coyote Blue? :)

Why do they need to be read in order? Is this for ALL of his books?
I've never had any interest in reading his stuff, but I do have an autographed copy of The Stupidest Angel in my PC, from when I met him at Wordstock last year.

I haven't necessarily read them all in order, but tried to somewhat. Some of the same characters overlap between the books so they may mention something that has happened in a previous book and such.

HoserLauren - January 17, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Lizzi - thanks anyways, I think Sunny and I worked something out :)

Kel - I'm not too sure. I've just been told by people that they should be read in order *shrugs*. But I hear that they get better and better so I shouldn't be disappointed by any of them.

CheriePie - January 17, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Some of them are good to be read in order as like Sand said, some characters overlap. But that said, the characters in Coyote Blue don't appear in any of his other novels and doesn't even take place in the same location so that one is totally fine to read standalone.

The ones that DO have overlapping characters and are best read in order if you want a bit more background on each character (though it's not completely necessary to the plot) are as follows:

DEMONS:
- Practical Demonkeeping
- Island of the Sequined Love Nun
- The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
- Lamb
- The Stupidest Angel

VAMPIRES:
- Bloodsucking Fiends
- You Suck

Coyote Blue and Fluke, and I think A Dirty Job, which I have here to read as a bookring, are not part of any series and are fine to read standalone.

I just recently traded my copies of Bloodsucking Fiends and Lamb out on BookMooch. I'd read them previously but I acquired them for Mike to read since Moore's books (and now Koontz too) are turning him into a reader, which he never was his whole life. I like turning people on to reading who were never much of a bookworm before. :)

I still have a copy of The Stupidest Angel here for Mike to read too, so I'll consider trading it out here instead of placing it on Mooch since so many people seem interested in his stuff. :D

That's a helpful little chart Cherie. Thanks!

Dirty Job has characters from Bloodsucking Fiends in it. The Emperor for example...

Sand, please please do not send Lauren any more books. I can't keep up

I got an extra bookcase and I still don't think all the books in boxes will fit

Remember that all the books on both of our shelves are frequently read by the other one
