Title: What would you do with this book?
Description: Missing a page

I just received a rabck from my wishlist. Which I was glad to receive and don't want to sound ungrateful but the third from last page was missing. I didn't know that when I accepted the rabck, found out when I journaled it. I pm'ed another obsessor who has the book on their shelf to either email me the missing page or photocopy it and mail it to me. My question is, would you pass this book along with the typed out page added in or recycle it? It has already been through 4 bookcrossers so I would hate to take it out of circulation but I guess I have an issue with a book missing a page.
Thoughts?

Yikes-- I guess my opinion would be that if you added a photocopy of the missing page and let the next person know about it then it would be okay. I mean I personally would not mind, as long as the page was included.

I had that happen once. Except the book was missing more than just one page. The person that sent it to me said that it didn't impact the story any, but I didn't care. I PM'd someone and had them photocopy the missing pages and mail them to me, and then I included them with the book. It was a bookring for crying out loud!

 I doubt that was an author approved abridgement like with some audiobooks. How can missing pages not impact the story. :)
I think I'd like to know if there were pages missing with photocopies included, but if I just really wanted to read the book it wouldn't bother me any. Now if I was looking for a PC copy or wanted to wild release or lend/give to a non bookcrossing friend, I'd probably want the book to be intact. :)

I had a book like that I got from a library sale. I discovered the missing pages as I was reading it. I took it to one of meet-ups but I told the woman who picked it, plus I had noted it on a journal entry, so she wouldn't get upset. She was fine with it.

I think adding the photocopied page would be just fine. I'm with you that I would hate to take it out of circulation as the person who registered it obviously intended for it to be shared.

I'd say that adding a photocopied page would be fine... just warn whoever you send it to before you send it probably. I don't think most people would mind, since the page IS there, but some people are picky about their books, so they might not want to read it. I'd just be sure to mention that in the restrictions on a relay or when you offer it to someone or whatever.

I had a Robin Hobb book once with a major printing error - halfway through a page it jumped several chapters ahead and printed the other half of the page with that section, then it went back to where it was supposed to be. Unfortunately, the part that it printed in advance was a major spoiler!
I went through four copies of the book before I found one without the printing error (I wanted a copy for my PC). I then typed up the correct half of the page and glued it onto the wrong half. I made the font the same size as the font in the book so that it fit perfectly. I corrected all three incorrect copies that I had.
So I think a photocopy insert would be just fine to include.
