Title: Gossip Girl
Description: TV series coming!
EllyMae58 - May 5, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
Premiering in the fall on CW.
Gossip GirlA couple of characters missing (Vanessa, for one) and a couple of character name changes (why?) but the casting looks pretty good so far.
My problem is just that I always pictured Blair as a blonde and Serena as a brunette (even though the book is the opposite). Blair, being the bitch that she is, just always seemed better as blonde to me!

I knew the series was going to end up on TV eventually ... I just had the feeling. I like the series but don't know if I'll watch it or not.

Ages ago there was talk of it being a feature film with Lindsay Lohan, but obviously that never got off the ground. I'll watch just to see how well the book is translated to TV.

I haven't caught up on the latest books. Do we know yet who GOSSIP GIRL really is?

I have a question for the Gossip Girl readers. I've seen the books a few times and I've been wondering (a lot more now that there's a show coming) if it's worth the time. I don't think I was ever sure if it was regular fiction or teen books. It seems like the kind of series I used to read constantly as a teen sooo I'm thinking it might still appeal to me. Should I start a hunt for the first few books?

Depends on what kind of teen books you like. These books are about rich, privleged kids that seem to get away with anything and everything..there is lots of sex, drugs, bitchiness, shopping, etc....

Hmmm. Maybe I'll try the first one and see what happens. Thanks!

Looks awesome but the actors don't look quite the way I imagined the characters

I thought the same way when I originally saw the cast. I don't think the girl playing Serena is pretty enough. The book makes her out to be this amazingly beautiful person, like people just turn and stare at her she's so pretty. Blake Lively is not that pretty. :angry2:
My problem is that when reading the books, despite the descriptions, I always felt Serena should be a brunette and Blair a blonde. So I'm all screwed up anyway! :P
And they completely left out Vanessa, changed the mom's name, Rufus isn't nearly grubby enough, and where the heck are Jenny's boobs????

Yeah I thought the girl playing Jenny looked way different than I imagined her. Especially without those mondo-hugeo boobs the writer gave her.

I just checked out the first book at the library. The cover and the size is different from the rest, but I'm pretty sure it's the same book. I also purchased two more of the series (also at the library, at 10 cents a piece). Sooo we'll see how that goes :)
