Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

Sorry, the administrator has taken the search engine offline for the moment. Please try again later

Is this something we can turn on, or is it like a pay feature?

Or heck, if someone could just tell me the trick, I'd be happy. I know it was something like, type xx then "" around some phrase. I just can't remember.

All you have to do to search for the old relay pages is to type in bookrelay and the keywords. Then when the search comes back with results there should be a link under each result with the word cache. I don't think the search works here. :sigh: Ummm Cherie has the database to the old relay so she should be able to find what you need anyway. :erm:

there is a lot more out there than what I have posted, there's blog info for some of you (Marlene I just took a quick look for yours and didn't see anything, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything so you might still give it another try), and posts, and all kinds of things. Links that we had are not recoverable, and the links within the pages are not usable, but if you want to search and see what you find, go to google.com and put the following in the search box:

site:bookrelay-forums.com

followed by whatever you want to try and narrow down the returned results (i.e. Paranormal, I especially suggest putting in your id i.e. "shaunesay" to see what comes up). Then when the list of pages comes up, you want to click on the cached link that will be below it, it will say "Cached". It's not hard, it just takes some time. This is how I found all the box info that I posted. I had to just keep looking until I found the most recent, because sometimes there were many versions of the same thing, or older versions that didn't have everything.

My hubby and CheriePie were the brains behind this, I just put in the time. Cherie told me the above thing to put in to help narrow down what we were looking for when we started out looking for info (it wasn't all me!  *smoochin on Cherie*)

Anyway, I figured after Marlene was wanting to find her Blog and knowing that some of that stuff may still be there, you all might like to know what to do in case you want to search for yourselves and see what else is out there to find.  Hope it helps!

Yeah... I would say things are definitely in a transitional state here at the moment. And last I heard, there weren't any plans for INvisionFree to reenable the regular forum search.

On the one hand, InvisionFree wants to eventually transition everyone over to their new ZetaBoards software since Invision wouldn't allow them to upgrade to v2 without paying through the nose! Then there was also some talk with a few of the higher-ups about BC possibly backing us in some fashion... though I don't have specifics yet and I'd really like Rhonda to be here to go over this with me. Though hopefully with the mods, we could come to any kind of decisions needed together.

And then there's always the "my server" option, which again, is a mess, and definitely not in a good enough state to house our forum. It barely runs my own site without having to be restarted every day.

So for the time being, we're stuck with the lousy Google search capabilities of this forum, but AT LEAST, now that we've got our own domain name, no matter what happens, the URL to get here won't have to change.

ETA - Lei, I see you were actually inquiring more about searching Google directly for the info you were looking for, and ended up finding it. So for future reference, here's also a description of the modifiers you can use with Google Searching. :D

Cool thanks!!! I don't often need to use some indepth searching, but that is so good to have!!!!

And the searching on here isn't that big of a deal, now that I remembered (thanks to Cheesy) that I can look at all of threads.
